howeda7 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Like i mentioned earlier. Its been forever since they made a deal to bolster the team. In 2017 they were in the race and added Jaime Garcia. In 2015 they traded for Jepsen, and this board lost it's mind because they traded their #20-ish prospect for him.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Duffy is the worst tease. Every time you think maybe he figured something out...no. Uh, don't put words in my mouth.

Just like it's been forever since they've been better than a maybe-in-contention-for-the-wild-card-if-everyone-else-blows-it team with a front office not dominated by Terry Ryan. So.
drock2190 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Problem with finding bullpen upgrades is that there isn't a lot of good relievers out there on non contending teams this year.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Chei-Wei Hu, who many were enraged we gave up to bolster the bullpen in 2015 currently has a 6.50 ERA in AAA for Tampa.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 With all due respect, which other world class reliever is out there freely available? If I made a list of pitchers who didn’t pitch for nine months who were bad and you made a list of pitchers who didn’t pitch for nine months and were good, I’d bet my list would be significantly longer. I just don’t understand why there is such assumption that Kimbrel will be any good let alone world class.
wavedog Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Lol! In honor of Mr Green the full quote “If you want to crown them, then crown their asses. They are who we thought they were. And we let them off the hook.”
Don't Feed the Greed Guy Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Nope. No apparent need for Kimbrel here. No need to strike hard. “I would say we’re laying in wait right now. The best moves are made not when you’re trying to open the window to contend but when the window is wide open. We’re very eagerly waiting for this window to be opened, and when it is, we plan on striking.”Thad Levine

Shame on me!) TR got ousted during the horrendous 2016 season.

I mean, to be fair, Kimbrel's about the best pitcher ever to go nine months without pitching due to non-injury reasons.
70charger Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Stop. Many were enraged? I don't know if "enraged" is right, but I was among those who thought that Hu was going to be better than he is. And it's those kinds of lessons that suggest to me that players like Alcala, Duran, Thorpe, Badoo, Gonsalves, Rooker, Celestino, Enlow, etc. are all saleable and not particularly missable. Put a couple of them together and you've got yourself a reliever who's better than at least half of what we've got now.

No I was part of that debate. gotta fact check you. It was the idea that posters were valuing Hu so much less than than Kohl Stewart, Tyler Jay, Trevor May, or whoever the other TINSTAAPS were during that debate. Carry on.
twins_89 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 If the Twins bullpen was a boat, I'd say it was taking on water at an alarming rate and is in danger of going under.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 That doesn't answer the question.Well then my answer is there aren’t any world class relievers available, but there will almost certainly be many better than Kimbrel will be this year, who I expect to be rusty and resentful.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Probably the most disappointing loss of the season. Not sharp in the field, pitching was awful. Things need to change in the bullpen.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Embarrassing. The Indians were giving this one away, and we wouldn't let them. We'll make the playoffs I think, but we are not a match for the Yankees or Astros right now. Not even close.

As close to a gimme as you get in the big leagues.
