We didn’t need Kimbrel

My money is on Parker being better than Kimbrel the rest of the year. And that’s not saying much, I’m pegging Parker for about a 4.50 ERA.

 

There are better options than a guy who skipped spring training and hasn’t pitched since last year.

Right, they’re going to need to trade to upgrade the pen. I’d bet against Kimbrel being some kind of get out of jail free card.

I guess, but it's not like the bullpen suddenly pitches better because of the announcement of the Kimbrel move, so this crappy performance still happens and then we say "well that's why we signed Kimbrel".

Including tonight's game, the Twins bullpen ERA is right around 7 for the past 2 weeks. It's going to be tough to keep winning when the bullpen is struggling so badly. Maybe it would be a good idea for the front office to finally make a move and get an upgrade or two.

I was poking around the MiLB site to see how the Twins kids were doing (the Wed Rings won with Arraez being held to 3-for-5 with a double). The Fresno pitcher has a perfect game through 5 against New Orleans. Two questions come to mind about New Orleans:

 

1. How in the world are they in the Pacific Coast League?

 

2. Who in the world would name a team the "Baby Cakes"?

 

I think I know the answer to the first one (merger of old American Association), but #2?
