Welcome back to another exciting Twins Daily game thread!  The place where snappy conversation and arm chair quarterbacking are the norm. A place where fun banter and the occasional friendly jab at your Twins Daily counterparts is not only encouraged but allowed (please note I said friendly jab).

Before we post the lineups tonight, I wanted to share with you, our gentle readers some things I was pondering at work today. I know we're still 6 months away from Thanksgiving but for some reason I'm just feeling thankful today for our Minnesota Twins. I started to think about all the disappointment and anguish we've endured as a fan base the last 8+ years and it's made me think about all the things I'm thankful for with this organization right now.  In fact, I think I appreciate these things even more than I did in the past (kind of like the guy who appreciates a cold glass of water after a long hike in the hot desert). Please indulge me as I list out below a small list of things I'm thankful for regarding the Minnesota Twins:

  • We have a 10.5 game lead over the Indians (soon to be 11.5 after tonight. Bet on it!)
  • The Twins have the 2nd best record in baseball
  • We have a team that leads the league in runs scored
  • We have a team that ranks #5 in the American league in pitching (based on ERA)
  • Polanco ranks 2nd in batting average in the AL
  • Rosario is tied for 1st in AL with most home Runs and tied for 1st in RBI's
  • We have two pitchers ranked in the top 5 in the AL with most wins (Berrios and Odorizzi) Perez will be in the top 5 after tonight
  • Odorizzi is ranked 1st in the AL with the lowest ERA (1.97)
  • Polanco and Buxton are in the top 5 in the AL with WAR (3.5 and 2.3 respectively)
  • Minnesota ranks 4th in the AL, 6th in the entire league in fielding percentage
  • Cruz and Garver are back in the lineup
  • I think we have a very good pitching coach
  • Our front office brain trust seems to know what they're doing (please sign Kimbrel)

Sorry about the list above. I meant to keep it short but there's a lot to be thankful for at the moment. I'm just going to enjoy this time while it lasts and dream about the short days of late October.  By the way, might as well post my menu for Thanksgiving a little early.

I'm thankful for the invitation I just received to Twinsporto's house for Thanksgiving dinner.

You're welcome! Everyone is invited.  It's been a Twins Daily tradition for years.

If you've heard of "Christmas in July" then it only stands to reason if we celebrate Thanksgiving in June.

This lineup tonight is gonna crush. Gotta leave for a dinner event but will hopefully be back for the last couple of innings.

My pick the click for tonight is Mr. Sano.  Just gotta feeling.

My thoughts exactly.  Glad someone else thinks rationally around here.

For those that haven't heard, one of the CLE pitchers is taking time away from baseball to deal with a blood issue of some kind.....good luck to him.

This is from right after the first series of the season. Any sensible baseball fan knew the Indians were in serious trouble at the beginning of the year. Cleveland has now had 3 of their top 4 starting pitchers out with serious ailments.

How many times recently has max swung at the first pitch to lead off a game? Kind of annoying, especially if there’s no homer

Bert: “Perez has done a good job of keeping those free bases on balls off first base.”

Then Perez lets one of those free bases on balls get to first base.

Perez reminds me of when the Twins signed Ramon Ortiz. Everyone hated the signing and said it was a typical Twins signing. Ortiz spun of a month's worth of good starts (Perez has sustained it longer), and then Ortiz fell apart like everyone assumed he would.

Kuechel and Kimbrel it is!
