For a good part of April I was thinking I do not think they are as good as their record. Now, am starting to lose my fear of being snake bit and thinking maybe this is real. Doing well against the Yankees just might make me a full believer.

The team isn’t as good as its record.

 

But that doesn’t mean they can’t compete and have a fun summer.

Getting 3 of 4 against the Astros in incredibly impressive. Maybe we'll meet again in the playoffs...?

 

The thing about playing great in the spring is that teams cool off during the summer and don't end up doing anything in the playoffs. I hope we can continue this momentum forward!

Now on to their favorite domain, Yankee Stadium. Minus the characters from the recent past who made them believe that the Yankees are unbeatable. Finally a new cast of characters with the best from the old and a winning attitude to boot. Twins have been hamstrung over the past decade and those days are over. Go Twins!

Didn't we do this in May of 2015? Didn't we have the best record in baseball at one point then?

I think they started mediocre in April and then went 20-7 in May to move into first. I think it was a pretty lucky May with a lot of hits strung together, whereas this group looks more legit.

Yankees are 0-5 against teams with .500 or better records .... 0-8 would make me a lot happier!

The 0-9 start in 2016 caused some sort of short in my brain where I now remember very little from seasons 2011 to 2016.    Our records, pitchers, bench etc.

I think the Vanimal goes without saying.  I think people view your wisdom and sharp analysis in your posts here almost at the same level as they did your pitching.  Baseball's loss is TD's gain.

The team doesn't have to be as good as its record. The Twins just have to be better than the teams they play. :)
