Waiting for a SSS truth bomb on this.

Why are you patronizing us all by pointing out things even a third grader could have predicted Nick? Give us at least a little credit, no one here had Cleveland pitching seeing the underside of a 6.0 ERA.

And yet I seem to find the logo issue only part of what is offensive in this thread ... and I was told that as a website of mostly men, to just accept it. My offense doesn't count.

I apologize for offending you or anyone else. I was writing about the significance of names and my favorite name is Olivia.

I doubt anyone was offended by the intro.....it was a great intro.

I was trying to be funny and should have thought more about how it might play out.

Life will be better for all of us when RB returns.

Just watched the Dozier inside-the-parker and he did it in 15.41!!!! Tenth fastest since Stat-tracker!!!!

Buxton has 1st place!

We're either going to win or lose this game.

If we can manage to score more runs than them I think we can do it.

We also have to give up less runs than their team does.

BOLD PREDICTION:

Twins might win?

It played out well here. I'm trying to remember all the Olivia's I knew, and then all the manequins that got a second glance. Sadly, none come to mind yet........

The Cleveland logo is unquestionably offensive.  Not quite as offensive as Byron Buxton's bat - striking out with the bases loaded yesterday cost the Twins the game.  The "but his glove" excuse is getting pretty old.  Rosario's been garbage too.  The Twins need to score runs.  We've got an awful Kyle Gibson on the mound tonight.  I'm feeling a 6-1 loss heading our way.   BUT: that's why they play the game!  Who knows?  Maybe Eddie Escobar will get inserted in the lineup and provide a lucky spark.

Kepler should be batting next to Sano in this lineup, in front or behind. Park healthy yet?

My two cents:

I somewhat understand the redskin comments, since it does hit on skin color, but the name Indians or Braves doesn't bother me. I'm not aware (and someone can correct that) of those terms being used as racial terms in the same way as words like cracker, spic, the N word, etc. Indian is simply a name for a group of people.  Calling Indians 'braves' was a compliment unlike another word that was used (savages).

Perhaps I'm not up on my racial terms, but I don't see what is derogatory with only that name.  Like someone else said, do we abolish Vikings next?  That's a slippery slope that at one point would have most team names changed.  Blake is right about that, at some point people need to get over being offended so easily.  Perhaps my understanding of those terms is wrong, and if that is the case, I'd like to be corrected.  But without question, political correctness can go too far, and I think this is a good example.

I do think Cleveland should simply continue on phasing out wahoo.  They've already been reducing it's prominence in their marketing, but it would be wise to slowly phase in a new logo that doesn't focus on the color of skin. Instead, they could focus on non-racial characteristics of Indians.  I would think there would be a way to keep the name without disparaging the people.

Chitown, we're all human and we all step in it at times. Call someone out on it, they apologize, move on. (you should have seen the humble pie I ate when I made disparaging remark about Millenials. Fully deserved, I might add)

Anyway, how about Hawk Harrelson? Does the very mention of his name give you shivers and nightmares?

I missed the disparaging remarks about Millennials. :(. In fact I did not know that it was possible. That said, after reading point #4 in the open, I wish I had continued my studies in psychoanalysis at Trump U. There's money to be made here! :)

Somewhere in the good book there is a mention of ...... "Let he who is innocent cast the first stone" or something to that extent. Taking that to heart, there shouldn't be too many rocks hurled by this bunch! :)

Yes, Brian would never say something that might get him in trouble.

If that's the road to Essaouira, I have been there. I sent a picture of a goat tree to my five year old niece in Germany, and she immediately started whining to my sister about how it wasn't fair that they weren't growing goats at their house. I think my sister ended up telling her that goats don't grow in the cold German weather.

Why is Mauer batting cleanup again?

I don't know.... But, did you hear about the guy that got hit in the head with a can of soda?

He was lucky it was a soft drink....
