Guest Guests Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Anyone ever heard of the Twins or a Twins player seeking out a sports shrink? Hope someone starts dropping handfuls of business cards from a good one around the locker room, slowing down in front of Buxton's and Gibson's lockers.Amazingly, as of last fall, the Twins had had one for a while now. He may still be there; I just haven't bothered to look it up. My guess is he's behind the times, like everything else has been. Regardless, evidence of benefit is sparse. Great to have one, but he or she has to be good and you have to know how to use it.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I decided to listen to Dickbert tonight. They are much more critical of the players than I remember. Is this a thing now? Im in Oregon and I watch through MLB.tv, so naturally I listen to the opposition broadcasters most of the time.Bert was hard on joe the other day. But really, Dick and Bert have had to sit through some pretty awful stuff the last five or so years. They can't turn the game off like we can. I'm surprised they aren't drunk in the booth like harry Doyle

crapforks Provisional Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I really, really root for Gibson to succeed. But, he is at best a low end 4th starter and 5th starter if that at this point. I don't know if he will last this season as a SP and that is probably a good thing. I do not like watching him pitch and I do not like his results and I have no confidence that he would be better as a reliever.I root for Gibson because he is a pitcher for my favorite team. He's one of the few that I have pretty much given up on. He's in that category of players that I take any success they have as a bonus: Juan Castro, Ramon Ortiz, Mike Pelfrey, etc.

bighat Verified Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 100%. The offense has been pretty brutal for most of this (young) season. One good inning last series. That's it, one. Heck, didn't Quintana stick around through the 6th on Saturday? Just simply not enough talent in the lineup at this point. Which is why playing Buxton right now is so dangerous. There's not enough guys 1-8 that can offensively carry a player who's basically an automatic out. Plus you have a pitching staff that's unsteady at best, especially 3-4-5 starters. A real quandry.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I wish Dick would just forget the phrase "pitch to contact" and just say pitch strikes.I throw up in my mouth every time I hear that nonsense! Pitch to air is a better mantra.

Exactly. At least if someone was on base ahead of him, he could use the bunt to be productive.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I'm afraid Salazar is settling in

howeda7 Verified Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Can we put Gibson in the bullpen and get Berrios up here or does he have too much veteran presence?
Taildragger8791 Verified Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 That fastball sure gets out of the stadium in a hurry.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 This lead is insurmountable. But at least we have Craig Breslow available instead of Vargas.

Twinsoholic Verified Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Wow! Gibson is mediocre. Slow on the mound. Boring to watch. Some brutal results sandwiched around a few strikeouts.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I would love to hear uncensored Bert and Dan comment on this team.
Taildragger8791 Verified Member Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 As much fun as it's been to watch the Twins this year compared to last, and as much as I really want to watch a game even when I know it's going the wrong way, Gibson has an amazingly strong ability to make me want to tune out and go do anything else. I don't even get mad about it anymore, just disengaged and disinterested out of hopelessness.
