Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I wanted to say thanks to everyone that ran a game thread this year. It was a very hard year, and the humor and fun in that part of the site was one of the reasons I came back to the site every day. I hope everyone has a great off season.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 RB has earned his 4th straight MVP award with 1,350 CAR (clicks above replacement)But we've got some up and coming players who have developed faster than anticipated. Maybe even a couple of future all-stars! The future is bright....
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Agreed... great work everyone, especially Riverbrian, but everyone!
Jerr Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Always a fun time...already miss them but, WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!!!!
jimmer Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I finally did my first game thread for Saturday's game. I enjoyed doing so, but I must say its not easy. Took some serious time to try and write something that might be interesting.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I, too, want to thank all who took the plunge and volunteered. Also a shout out to everyone who participated. The game threads remain one of my favorite things about this place, and that's because of all of you. MUCH APPRECIATED!

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 It's take a village to create that daily event. Chief SchedulingChiTown's Editing Everyone's effort, creativity and self deprecation made it possible. I wasn't able to participate as much as I liked this year because of my schedule but it doesn't change what I think about it. It's one of the most special places on the internet. I can't think of any place like it... where else can you find a room filled with both humor and respect... On the internet? Some said it couldn't be done. It has been done
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Game threads are a lot more fun in the playoffs. I miss the payoffs.
snepp Verified Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 RB has earned his 4th straight MVP award with 1,350 CAR (clicks above replacement) Pffffft, don't give me any of that cybermetric stuff. I want to know how much VP he provided and just how gritty it was.

Blake Verified Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 It was a fun year, at least from a game thread perspective. It was a nice distraction from the dumpster fire known as "The Twins."
Platoon Verified Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Hopefully this team gets better. And just as hopefully said success does not ruin GT. The worse the games got, the better GT got. There is something to be said for subtle snark!

Loosey Verified Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Since were in the off-season. Who's heading to Fort Myers this year? I'll be down there Feb 23-28. We should get the Thread of who's going and when going again, only this time start it early. Maybe try to meet some of you in person. Loosey: Feb 23-28

Loosey: Feb 23-28 I'll be there at some point for a week or two, possibly consecutive, possibly not. I've been there every year for the past 16 yrs in a row, plus a few scattered others, no reason to think I won't be there this spring. Just haven't selected the dates yet.
Blake Verified Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 What always got me when it came to game threads was deadlines. Sign up for a thread a month in advance and then wait for the muse known as "last minute panic" to strike.

So i get the last week in February usually. Hopefully they will have at least reported by then.
Blake Verified Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Echoing Brian, thanks to Chief and Chitown for all the help with game threads.

There is usually little clash with other relatives as my schedule is more flexible, not having to work around any school breaks. And for sure they report by then; at the very least catchers and pitchers, but a lot of the team is there anyway working out even if not officially.
Doomtints Verified Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 All of the contributors did a very good job. I'm impressed. Next year will be more fun. Even if the team is bad we will have new philosophies to discuss and debate.

My 4 year old at the time almost wiped out Joe Benson before the Twins took care of it a few weeks later.

Btw, looking for somewhere to stay up there, say about Nov. 9th or so. I think I can adapt, all I need to do is throw in an extra 'u' in a few words, move the 'e' in liters!
