Thoughts on the Twins New Red Alternates

The Twins just unveiled new red alternate jerseys that will be worn at every Friday home game.

More of the same. I think they're nice enough but I can't get too excited by another alt uniform.

They are just ok. Still not big on the gold trim, but that isnt going away anytime soon.

 

The only jersey I get real excited for is the throwback alternates. Wear those more please.

I guess I don't really care about uniforms in baseball.  I like the dark blue alternate road one the best but there's nothing wrong with this new one.  Kind of neat to see a red uniform, I suppose.

Not a fan.    Plenty of red jersey's out there.    Then again, there were plenty of gray unis with blue/red piping that look alike (Atlanta/Cleveland...)  and we still went to those uniforms (away uniforms).    Bring back the away pinstripes!!!!

I don't have very string feelings towards the red jerseys.  There are enough teams that wear bright red, but it is only one day a week (for now).  

 

I still prefer the home alternate jerseys the best, followed by the blue road alternate.  That's just my preference.  I wasn't a big fan of the uniforms they unveiled last year until I saw them in person, and they kind of grew on me.  Maybe these red ones will too.

Agree. I'm a big fan of the baby blue jerseys. That's just my personal preference though. Most teams that go that route like the San Diego Chargers I think they always look sharp.

I hate pull-over jerseys but I'd love to see a button-up baby blue variant.

Meh. I'm not much a fan of the "Kasota Gold." Seems out of place with the red.

My thought is, I watch for the baseball, I have no idea why anyone cares. But, I also don't judge those that do care, because clearly lots of people do, I just don't get why.

Strongly agree with the first sentence. Strongly disagree with the second. The baby blues are so '70's, and not in a good way.

All of this, in baseball, face it, it's about Jersey sales to fans.  Now you need to go get another jersey, with another name, just like your other one.

 

Twins make money on this.   Meanwhile, I don't "see" any improvement of the actual product inside the jersey.

 

Yawn.  I'm sure I'll say to myself watching Friday highlights, "There's those ugly red jerseys again."

I'm in favor of one home uniform and one road uniform. The only thing I like about the Yankees is that they have never ever messed with their uniforms. I would like the '60's cream color for home but with updated trim. The current lettering is much better than the ugly script from the '60's. I like an all-gray road uni as long as it looks different from Atlanta and Cleveland. I know it's done to try to get fans to buy more licensed product but I'm just tired of the perceived need throughout sports for multiple looks.

I don't like this design - very similar to the Cubs alternatives, which look like beer league softball jerseys on the players.   The TC on the shoulder doesn't do it for me.  

 

I do like the Kasota Gold on the hats.

Would have been more interesting to tap into this new gold color they've added to the color family.

I watch for the baseball too, but there are just some jerseys that make the game difficult to watch.

What on earth?? What were they thinking designing those jerseys? Do you know what year this was?

They remind me of the 1997 alternate jersey they wore for like two games. 

 

All I remember about them is watching sportscenter the next morning and Dan Patrick's open for the Twins highlights was "Well, the Twins pulled out their Softball Uniforms today."  And Olbermann's reply was "Dairy Queen!".

 

I don't like them.  To me they are just red jersey's with the TC crest on the upper left chest.  Not too much effort in the design in my opinion.  They should go old school or really change it up and use the Kasota Gold as the primary color.

I prefer this "duller" red with the blue piping.  This jersey would look good with the TC from the new alternate replacing the Minnie and Paul logo.  Move the Minnie and Paul logo to the sleeve.  If you want to add some gold that would be fine.

Those were the "Turn Ahead the Clock" jerseys from 1999.  

 

I will say this, I think the had one of the better versions of that jersey.  Other teams had waaaaay worse designs.

Wow you're right. The other jerseys are far worse than the Twins. I barely recognized the Mariners and Royals off colored jerseys...

Yeah...there's a ton of other red jerseys out there. But remove that from the context and just look at these as a stand alone. I like them. I'd probably tweak a couple things, (like a front number somewhere), but I like them.

 

But what would be better still is a revamp of the powder blue but button up and not,pull over. That would be retro, fresh and unique all at the same time.
