DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 WE WANT THE CUP! WE WANT THE CUP! Ooops wrong sport....um....we want the division title! (then the pennant, then the WORLD!!!!!!! series)
PeanutsFromHeaven Verified Member Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 The excitement is palpable. Teaching at a downtown high school I hear both sides, on the one hand I had a kid walk by my room looking for a high five as he declared, "WE SWEPT THE RED SOX! WE'RE IN FIRST FRICKIN' PLACE!!"; on the other hand I had a student complain, "I couldn't find a spot with everybody at the damn Twins game!"

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Man I wish I was in MN this summer to be a part of the excitement. On a separate thought, all being equal, are we a baseball town, football, or hockey?

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 The most amazing thing; it was homers by Hicks and Rosario that powered this win. Back in April that was more than simply inconceivable.
gil4 Verified Member Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Basketball town.So why isn't there a site here for the Lakers (or whatever our team is these days}?
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Enjoy the ride!!!! "Enjoy the ride!" That's really the key, isn't it. Twins fans have had so little to cheer about the last few years. If one is to believe many (most?) of the national pundits, the Twins have achieved this record through smoke and mirrors and it is all going to collapse sooner rather than later. That's even more reason to "Enjoy the Ride!" Sure, we may get disappointed but at least we will have lived in the moment and enjoyed the Twins' success. There is nothing to be gained by taking an "it can't last" outlook. If I get my heart broken, it'll mend and I'll come back next spring with hope and optimism in my heart. But if the pundits are wrong and the Twins keep achieving, I want to make sure that I'm enjoying every moment of the journey.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 So why isn't there a site here for the Lakers (or whatever our team is these days}?im depressed just thinking about those message boards.. Popular forum titles including: will the Wolves ever win? How long until the season's over? Rookies play great! Team still loses 120-88.

If someone wants to happy dance about this, let them.

Where will they find joy and meaning if not from criticizing the front office and seeing their fatalism come to fruition.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I feel like I'm going to finally wake up from this dream and realize the Twins are in last place... I'm still in denial. I gotta see it to believe it. I'm enjoying our current success, but I don't think we'll continue at our current pace. There are so many examples of teams falling apart. The Oakland A's were the best team in baseball last summer and then fell apart. But hey, why am I being so negative? The Twins are kicking butt and let's keep doing it! A couple years ago, I thought 2015 would be the year Sano and Buxton arrived and we'd get into the playoffs. Perhaps that IS going to happen now!
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Yep It is pretty good evidence that the GardyNAndy regime are the major culprits for the Twins being losers for a while (since nothing much else changed from last year.) Which makes me think, what if Ryan chose Molitor over Gardenhire to replace Kelly the same off-season he chose LeCroy over Ortiz... Maybe there would had been some parades Oh well...Let's enjoy what we are having, but let's do some root cause analysis here and start holding people accountable.

Let's just enjoy this and hope it lasts and leave it at that.

Where will they find joy and meaning if not from criticizing the front office and seeing their fatalism come to fruition. You can go ahead and worry about my sanity (or lack thereof) if you want to. I mean, this is the first time I've rooted for a winning team (legitimately, that is), so why not be a little crazy? It's way more fun than the Twins losing and having my head on my shoulders. And I'd rather be able to respond "It's good to be optimistic" to people who tauntingly ask "Remember how excited you were at the beginning of the season?" than "It's good to be pessimistic" to people who ask the reverse....lol. But whatever. You go ahead and think what you want to think, I'll think what I want to think, but we'll all be happy with each other since the Twins are winning and everybody's just a little bit crazy.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I've watched most of the games this year and it looks like the team chemistry is great. It reminds me of the 87 team in some ways. Everyone is having fun and playing loose. Look at some of the better teams that made the playoffs the last 10 years. Most of those clubs looked like they were having fun and getting along. I know my day job is a lot more fun and productive when I'm working along someone I like and respect. This has been exciting to watch!! No matter what happens this is going to be a great summer of baseball. The talent we have below our club now is scary good. Get ready for the fun!
