Hopefully Ober can duplicate his performance in Oakland. Seattle's an interesting team. Their pitching might be the best in baseball. If they ever start to hit or make a trade(s) to improve the line-up, they're a team no one wants to see in October.

Tonight our batters face a very tough opponent in Logan Gilbert.  I wish the Twins had traded Polanco for Gilbert last off-season when I suggested it, instead of Desclafani.

No way the Mariners were trading Gilbert for any conceivable price I would agree to, and certainly not for Jorge alone.

Yeah, I expect the Mariners to try and lock up Gilbert this offseason. I'm guessing they'll be floating like 5 years $100MM at him.

Is this fellow related to William? Would making references to the works of said William be construed as rooting for the opposition?

On baseball forums such as these.

You are allowed to suggest Polanco for Gilbert straight up and be angry with the Twins for not getting it done.

Glad to see we've got a game thread for tomorrow already up. 😀

Lol ... not the first time I've had to correct one of Brock's dates on a game thread ... one time, he had the wrong year :)

They roughed him up for 8 runs on 9 hits in 4 innings on May 9th with no Buxton or Lewis. That game also marked the turnaround to the seasons of  Santana and, to a lesser extent, Margot (though he did have 5 RBI that day).

Bailey faced the Mariners back in May in a game we went on to lose. He went 5 innings giving up 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, 1 homer and 7 strikeouts.

Let's jump on Gilbert early just like last time.

But no Buxton. Gotta ride on the Buck Truck while he's hot (.355/.397/.645 slash line with 4 HRs & 14 RBI over his last 17 games).

Why isn't Buck in the lineup? Just a rest day?

Early runs (not just 1's) make the difference.

As of today our Minnesota Twins would field a playoff type lineup of 9 above league average (by OPS) hitters and not have any odd positional issues. Lowest OPS would be Kepler.

Castro 2B

Larnach LF

Lewis 3B

Kepler RF

Correa SS

Santana 1B

Jeffers C

Buxton CF

Miranda DH

Your order may vary. That's a nice bottom three though. Pretty nuts considering March.

Attendance is 46,000, sold out. Happy fan base with a 141mm payroll. Twins at 128mm. They are averaging 29,000 game vs 21,000 for the Twins.

A win tonight would be a great way to start this series! A sweep could get us close to knocking on Cleveland’s doorstep. We’re coming!!!
