I don't think they ever actually said anything about the TV revenue. I'm sure that was in ownership's mind, but I don't recall them ever saying it. Joe Pohlad said he was "right sizing" the business. EDIT: The above is incorrect. Pohlad did, indeed, mention the TV contract uncertainty when he said the Twins would be "right sizing." TwinsAlmostWin and SF Twins Fan 2

Oakland is playing much better than the Twins, as well. Like Perkins just said, the Orioles weakest player is the #1 prospect in baseball. That says something about their lineup. Hosken Bombo Disco 1

Actually, look at it as a payroll reset after the large spike increase in payroll that Pohlad gave to Falvey in 2022 and 2023. People on this site talk about going “all in” well, the Twins have actually been doing that, and no one noticed TwinsAlmostWin, Schmoeman5 and SF Twins Fan 1 2

I get it you may not know, it just seems so tone deaf for the Pohald's to cut payroll after the year the Twins had, and not even explain anything to the fans. I get it, they don't care about fans, but they should because we line their pockets. The Pohlads are in business to make money first and if they can win while making money great. That's the same as a lot of owners. We'd like them to be win first and if they can still make money great.

UpstateNewYorker Verified Member Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 After three innings the Orioles have 7 runs, the Twins have one hit. I really hate playing the role of the Washington Generals. (Some might have to Google that one.)

I see. If that's the truth, then I guess that makes sense from a business standpoint, even though it is very annoying. On the flip side, this logic should mean larger payroll spending if the team can get a better TV contract after this year. I won't hold my breath.

h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 The thing is, not only is the current FO philosophy and style creating a loser here at the MLB level, but the whole org is tanking at every level that could help this year. AAA and AA, with Wichita 1-8! What a treat to see players actually swinging at close pitches and getting hits, instead of our guys looking at them, whining about close strikes, even, and begging for walks. SF Twins Fan 1
