For sure, I'm with you, that would have been my move too. Just the same, the decision to bring him out for the 7th was also a good one.

Still old school (understand day off/rested BP). Were I Rocco, I would have gone down and chatted w/Gray and asked him what was left in the tank. Bet that Francona would have, even if it were to congratulate Gray.

(Rocco well may have done that. Doubtful though).

I agree with Schmoeman.  Wallner speedy and aggressive coming in on balls, very shaky going back, especially in RF at Target, as he clearly is cautious about the wall and rebounds off the structures.  The game where Keuchel carried the no hitter into the 7th, the first hit surrendered was a ball up against the padded area of Right Center that Kepler might have caught.

Wallner had no chance at it, he started back, gave up, and then tried to play the bounce.

Angels just released a couple pitchers. Maybe we could claim them on waivers. This bullpen is felonious

He does talk to his pitchers, but I’m not sure if he leaves it up to them. It was the right move to take him out at that point, imo.

Thielbar made good pitches to Kwan but once he got ahead I might have challenged him in. I knew he was just going to dump one into left ala Arraez

Alright guys, 2 objectives until Friday

1. Win this damn game

2. Group prayer circle that somehow we won the waiver claim for Moore or Lopez

This FO not adding to our bullpen at the trade deadline is only overshadowed because of what the Angels did at their deadline.

Yeah, understand our difference and mine is respectfully against the main drift here. I just have no confidence in BP right now that needs to be factored in.

Also - Rocco pulling his starter, who was pitching a shutout and dealing, at 81 pitches through 7 innings is peak Rocco idiocy. Managing malpractice.

How many time has Sonny blown a lead lately after dealing?  Hint it's more than once.

81 pitches or not, he was getting shaky and is known to be worse the 3rd time through the order.  Now I would've probably given him a batter or so depending on the result, but I think taking him out was the right call.  To call it malpractice is a bit of a overstatement.

So because it has occurred, that means it will happen again? Makes sense.

We disagree - we have seen before where Rocco's over-managing hurts this team. That is fact.

Isn't that what a baseball manager is suppose to do?  See something that repeatedly happens and change it?  Sonny Gray, almost consistently pitches well and has a late blow up inning.  Everyone can watch and see that.
