He had been throwing him the splitter all day until that AB where he gave him 3 fastballs to start the AB before missing with the splitter at 1-2.  I don't want to assume, but it's possible Judge was sitting on the splitter and the fastball actually caught him off guard.  Being able to possibly set a hitter up, especially one as good as Judge, the third time he has seen him tonight is what damn good pitchers do.  

Then again maybe Judge just thought it missed the plate.
