CRF Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I know we're all pretty fixated on what our boys are doing, but has anyone been watching the Pads? They're going bat-sh*t crazy!

Will need a spot on the 26-man and 40-man. edit: looks like Cotton is gone, among possible other moves heh ... I just posted that tweet in the Rosters thread

Lopez hasn't been added, so the Twins have to remove 2 pitchers. Looking at the Twins website ... Lopez was added to the 40-man, but hasn't been activated yet

Cotton gone for Mahle. Who is Cave bumping?

But yeah ... not sure wha the corresponding move will be if they activate Cave
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 So far: Mahle, Lopez, Cave added to 26 man and 40 man Cotton DFA'd, Kirilloff to 15 day IL, Cano off 40 man roster (was already optioned to AAA). Looks to me like we'll need one more 26 man spot and one more 40 man spot.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Contreras would be an obvious cut for Cave.

Hrbowski Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I'm a little confused why they would cut Cotton but not Joe Smith.

It's going to take a while to sort out the 40-man "cuts" from the 26-man "cuts", and the page at mlb.com that I always rely on is going to be a work-in-progress for the next several hours. I'm a little disappointed Strotman hasn't figured into either trade so far. Must speak to him having 0 trade value. He'd be a DFA candidate, once the team knows for sure how many 40-man spots they actually need. They might not know, themselves, for another 65+ minutes anyway.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 As was fully expected, the Twins land a backup catcher as Caleb Hamilton was not going to cut it. Leon should be up sooner than later.

Hamilton seems like one of those journeyman nobodies that Cleveland could turn into a bullpen weapon.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Sandy Leon for Ian Hamilton. With all the roster churn I never quite understood why Ian didn't get another look in Target Field. Leon has had five consecutive seasons now, with an OPS in the .500s. Caleb Hamilton to the Twins: Am I A Joke To You?

Perhaps, but the Twins have neglected him for so long that it's not much different from cutting him and Cleveland picking him up. The Twins weren't going to call him up, so it's no loss on our end.
