AL ASG manager is benching Trout* and starting Buxton in CF for Tuesdays AS Game.

*Trout so embarrassed he's skipping game due to "injury"

Yeah sure.

Sox resurrected Freddie Mercury to be the starting pitcher.

The Twins faced a pitcher in the past week or two, for whom I thought the facial resemblance was even stronger, but I'm drawing a blank on the team or the player.

Hits seem hard to come by this afternoon.

I make that comment and Abreu immediately gets a hit. Four scoreless for Archer—dare we expect he comes out for the fifth?

Seems like almost every Twins starter the past two weeks has self-destructed in the 5th inning.

Well, there’s zero expectation that they should be allowed to stay in the game in the 5th or later judging by how the staff is managed. What did he have coming into this inning, 2 hits allowed and like 50 some pitches? If you melt down at that point perhaps you just aren’t a good pitcher and/or your stuff is weak

The dreaded third time through the order.

They are taught they will suck 3rd time through the order and they are learning well.

Bremer’s fault.  Joe Nathan comes to the booth.  Two very quick outs.  Bremer starts yakking about this quick inning happening.  So no.  It doesn’t have to make sense but I swear every time he opens his mouth like that the opposite happens.

I like Bremer''s blind call of the ground rule double.  Calling the ground rule double a quick return to hold the runner at third.  We are a complete unit.  Our bullpen, starters, offense (at times) and now our broadcasters are inept.

Except he walked the 8 hitter and gave up a single to the 9hitter before Anderson got the big hit. So should guys be pulled at 2 2/3 times through the order?

I've been saying for a while that Archer should be converted to a 2-3 inning reliever, once he hits the 55-70 pitch range he's cooked.

And yet he has to stay in the rotation because there just isn’t anyone else

The send off is complete.  We will go into the All Star break as mediocre team.  Posers, I think is the word.

Seems logical. So which of our excellent healthy starters takes his place in the rotation?

It’s called karma.  It’s called hubris.  It’s called reveal your plans and hear God laugh.  Just shut up Bremer.

Maybe we can finally put to bed the notion that it's the Twins holding Archer back when it comes to these short starts. This was the most stereotypical Archer start ever; cruise early, run out of gas quickly + lose command. The only difference between this start and earlier ones is the inherited runners crossed home plate. He's a valuable short work piece, but that isn't how he's being used.
