He was getting lit up in AAA this year to the tune of a 7.88 ERA in 18 innings.

Yeah, Sands isn’t ready for this level. He’s being put in an unfortunate situation. Hopefully this won’t scar him mentally, but given the injuries, what else can the Twins do?

Is that snow falling I see?

I think it’s residual ash from the rockets that launched in the top of the first

To be clear, Wolfson claimed Joe Ryan is ready to go.  But our beloved Perpetual Manager of the Year (Hallowed Be His Name) believes he needs a rehab start.  So, he’d rather have Sands get lit up and go 2IP rather than get a pitch count limited Ryan through 4ish.  To say that’s suboptimal is an insult to definition of suboptimal.

As he slowly meanders into second base.

Yep, if he's healthy that's a triple.

Sands looks overmatched, but you never know: he could settle in and gut his way through a few more innings. Rough time for so many of our starters to be on the IL, but that's the way it goes. Last time I checked, we were still in first place.

Buxton ripped a nice double; if he'd been going flat-out does he have a triple? (I have no problem with him gliding into 2nd)

I’m not used to watching Buxton turn a triple into a double.

And geez. Any other point in his career he’d have scored on Polanco’s hit

I was going to blame the cottonwood trees, but I think you're probably correct.

Seriously, why on Earth have Ryan and Correa not been activated? Weren't they both reported as having mild symptoms?

Who does St. Paul have pitching? Charlie Brown?

Aaron Sanchez, who had a 7+ ERA in a handful of outings with the Nats earlier this year, is starting for the Saints tonight. If Sands turn comes up in the rotation again and noone on the IL can easily slot into that spot, I expect Sanchez to get the start.

Correa will be activated tomorrow apparently, which is obviously great, but doesn't make me feel better about finishing the series with Archer-Bundy. There is no point in Ryan throwing a rehab game imo. Just treat his first start back as a rehab start. Get through 3 or 4 innings and pull him. That's all you're going to get with either Archer or Bundy, and it's likely that the results will be better.

Rocco manages as if the season is 5 years long. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Rocco "resting" guys on September 20th in a tight playoff race. He just has zero urgency.

I still like him as our manager but he's way too much of a players' manager for my taste.

All things being equal, wouldn’t you go with the guy with more ML experience? Could have turned out exactly the same but that’s how I’d lean
