Park: Ober has hip issue, shut down for season

I feel like this is as much a innings limiter as anything. A bummer but you can’t be too cautious with a guy who has the injury history he has.

With 108 innings pitched this year, he was a big bright spot and he's had the best season I think he could have wished for. Good luck to him taking it easy and winding down after a great 2021!

I'm assuming this is mostly precautionary? I'll worry more if they announce that he needs surgery of some kind. He still hit a career high in innings, dating back to his freshman year in college. A good rookie campaign, and shutting it down one start early in this garbage fire of a season doesn't change that in my mind.

Just a guess... but I am pretty sure Ober's hip is just fine... He's just reached the innings/pitches limit they decided early in the season.

Again, I think they (Twins, training staff, Ober) did a tremendous job of having a plan and executing it. Well done!

Is there any accountability to the medical staff for this and all the other injuries?

All of baseball is suffering through record-breaking numbers of injuries so I’m not sure what kind of accountability can be found in the situation.

I think someone needs to have a talk with COVID, ruining an entire MiLB season and all. Really teach COVID a lesson.
