Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I’ll just come out and say it: **** this team.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 That fly ball is why Luis should not be in left field. Shades of the Miguel Sano, Right Fielder experiment.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I hate making excuses, but: 1) That first pitch was a 100% strike that the ump completely missed, and Thorpe had a K there if he called it right 2) A better LF catches that ball

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Arraez absolutely had to catch that ball.
brycenation Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 7 inning game...we are toast....for that matter even if it was 9
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 A real left fielder catches that ball, but Donaldson has been shaky in the field. Makes some good plays and then does that. Safe to say thorpe probably isn’t good after the smoke and mirrors have faded. The hell is a Phil Gosselin?

tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 You cannot have a DH catch and a 2B play LF. The pitcher is afraid to throw in the dirt and routine fly balls score three. There are some decisions to be made.
brycenation Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 $5 ticket promotion....I don't think paying people only that much will entice them to Target Field
AceWrigley Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Most of Thorpe's fastballs having trouble getting up to 90 mph.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Dick announces a promotion for tickets starting for $5, and mentions it's for a limited time only. I think it's cute that the Twins think they'll be able to fill the upper reaches of the outfield for more than $5 this summer.

Azviking101 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Always fun to see multiple missed play balls lead to runs, then the top of the lineup is up with the players who caused the misplays also up and they go down 1-2-3 to an awful pitcher.

They’d have to pay me at least 100 to watch this ****ty team in the upper deck
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 The Twins don't even swing at the "mistakes". And when and if they do today (like Cruz swinging strike 3) they miss it completely.
insagt1 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 my vote is 'double the pain'. Angels are a pretty bad team and Otani isn't playing....and still we trail 4-1 after 2 innings of a 7 inning game....and our hitters are back to doing nothing productive. Refsnyder should be playing everyday until he proves he doesn't belong. The guy has bounced around for years and surely wants to prove he belongs. Seems to me the Twins were already defeated before they even arrived. Don't think they want any part of the DH and based on our record, it won't matter much....unless somehow somebody lights the fuse... Do we need to point out Cobb's ERA is over 5.00? Does that matter?
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 With 3 unearned runs today I am thinking we are now leading the lead in Unearned runs allowed - from eyeballing the ytd stats - which is something. Can't overcome errors or maybe we are just bad so those errors hurt more.
brycenation Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Why didn't their third-baseman stumble and fall all while losing the grip on the baseball?
Azviking101 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Wish I could get a MLB.tv refund. Honestly I think it's just time for me to stop watching. It'll get better at some point, but it's not going to get better enough to matter this season. It sucks but that's the truth. Too many good teams in the AL. The wild cards will likely be at 90-95 wins.
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Put Carew in the lineup for Game #2 - bet he would still get a couple of hits.
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Nice catch by Larnach - and he did not get hurt
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I'm still not sure how they are this bad, but they are. That outfield....yikes. I don't think Thorpe is going to be a good starter. Maybe he should move to the bullpen?

I’d try to trade him. Its a bit disappointing that Arraez is hitting in the .260's. The one strength he had was his ability to hit. And that isn't happening. (unless he has been hypnotized into the cult of hard hit ball analytics..where your success is measured by how many MPH you hit the ball, not where it goes or how many runs you produce...its a new world in baseball)

Unless he gets that velo back up, I think the bullpen is his only chance to succeed in MLB (and that’s assuming he can get the 2-3mph bullpen bump).
