Game Thread: Twins @ Detroit 4:10 PM PST (6:10 PM CST) 6/7/2019

[ashbury]

we do now.

It's called a stage whisper, Diehard.

[John Kelsey]

Luckily Cabrera has never done anything against us.

[gil4]

This is gonna hurt really bad

I still have faith in Detroit to be worse than our bullpen

[LaBombo]

Would comically be better?

I myself like silly walks.

Never hurts to throw in a sashay.

2019: The Blake Parker Experience

Gotta keep the fans at the ballpark!

Clearly you're a millennial. What about the Eddie Guardado experience?

[jud6312]

I don't care if he actually gets out of this. I want this guy nowhere near the 9th inning.

We can talk about how closers aren't important all we want, and that modern bullpens are built to get guys out when they need to, but you HAVE TO have someone that can get outs to end the game.

This guy isn't it.

[IndianaTwin]

Gardy moved into 6th place tonight in all time ejections with 81! His career high in ejections is 8 in 2006 and matched in 2007! He now has 4 this year with 101 games to go!

And all five that he trails are in the Hall of Fame.

The Ron Davis experiment

Diehard hasn't eaten anything today.. and he's been drinking. Stop assuming he can figure this stuff out.

[drock2190]

Parker has the worst fastball in the pen and he can't locate it.

[Aggies7]

Haha a 91 mph chest high fastball. The miggy of old would have hit that one to flint

[diehardtwinsfan]

The Ron Davis experiment

yes, us Gen Xers don't (thankfully) remember that.

[d-mac]

SInce May 1st Blake Parker has an xFIP of 5.16. Why he is being used in any situation other than mop up duty is beyond me.

[Aggies7]

I wasn’t even born and I still know who he is

You know who hates it when people talk in the third person?

This guy.

[diehardtwinsfan]

chicken Dinner!!!!

[Diesel]

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER

[MNT1996]

Don't give Parker the 9th ever again in a save opportunity please.

[Aggies7]

[70charger]

Well, he had that line drive scoped out.

...

I'll see myself out.

[John Kelsey]

The bullpen allowed 0 runs tonight, what were you guys so worried about????

[LVTwinsfan]

Parker caught a break there, pretty shaky

[LaBombo]

The Ron Davis experiment

That makes me picture the stock horror movie image of a gurney with a shimmying wheel being pushed down a filthy porcelain hospital hallway.

[Shaitan]

Saves. The greatest stat in baseball!

[gil4]

This is gonna hurt really bad

It stung Schoop's hand a bit, but I'm sure he'll be OK.

Parker has the worst fastball in the pen and he can't locate it.

And somehow gets away with it.

Maybe they were counting on the element of surprise. He can throw a breaking pitch there, and if it doesn't work he probably doesn't lose the ball game. Throw one of his mediocre fastballs, and the game could end right there. Not the call I would have made, but it worked out.

So, lots of headroom for improvement!
