Ooof, I woke up (it's 1am here in the UK) expecting them to be halfway through the 1st round and they're only on pick #6?! Holy crap, I could probably watch the second round about breakfast time at this point

I'm making dinner (pasta) ... and literally made watching water boil a priority over watching the draft :)

Jung to Texas at #8.

First name often linked to the Twins to go.

I was having trouble feeling all that excited about him I think just because he'd be kind of similar to Rooker and Larnach and it's always easier to get more excited about something different.

Now Langliers goes #9 to Atlanta.

I liked what I heard about him, but he seemed to have a decent amount of helium the last few weeks so unsurprisingly he didn't make it close to #13.

Law and others state this is one of the worst drafts for college pitchers. But when I read the pluses of some of the top college arms, I see several guys with velocity and a big breaking pitch that have low floors but high ceilings.

1] Even at 13, is this the season to take a shot there and hope you get the right guy?

2] Could this mean a slide to the compensation or 2nd round for some of those arms?

Law can tend to overstate things a bit sometimes.  The Fangraphs guys seem to think that the pitching is average once you get past the top of the draft.  There has only has gone in the top ten, so teams haven't really been reaching for pitchers, and it wouldn't be a reach if the Twins went that way with one of the top pitchers available.

Stott is the highest rated by fangraphs and others will he be the pick or will they go against the grain and come up with someone different? They could go with Carroll as well.

I wonder what the highest pick has been to the owner of the best record at the time of the draft. 13 is kind of high

I'm still feeling some of the pain from last year, and it felt worse than the #13 pick. (It also felt worse than the final record - 78-84?)
