Who did we get Smeltzer from again? Dodgers for Dozier?

No. For two lousy, miserable MONTHS of Dozier and Luke Raley, a C+ AAA guy.

Smeltzer's pitching performance up to this point has been just as amazing as some of the hitting displays that our boys have produced this season.

Smeltzer!

(As Dozier continues to tank in Washington. But they're playing him every day. Maybe he'll have his classic turnaround, who knows. But I don't miss him a bit, after last year's futility).

Brewers hitters have NO IDEA what pitch is coming next. Smeltzer has them completely fooled. It's almost like watching a multi-inning magic act. How does he do it?

Lotta offense and hard hit balls for a scoreless game...

Yeah, this might be the game to show a skeptic who you are trying to convince to be a fan.

No.

Hint: it was 1971 and this player only had 200 hits once.

Easy find on the internet, but I'll refrain from naming the name. Really good trivia question, BTW.

Dick had me on that Sano non-HR. I was doing the dishes and I hear Dick yelling... for a flyball on the warning track. Stop it with the fake-outs!

I was making dinner. Ditto.

Good one, indeed. On one hand, not surprising when I looked it up, but not one of the first dozen or so guesses I would have had.

What I like best about the Alka-Smeltzer story almost as much as his own victory over his cancer? It's him coming from a storied franchise where he was mired in AA as pretty much a non-prospect reliever who was given instructions and an opportunity probably for one last push.

He looks like a really fun guy to cheer for, and his story makes me feel even better about what's going on in this baseball organization.
