Game Thread: Twins vs Brewers, 5/28/19, 7:10 CT

[John Kelsey]

Wall 18, Byron 0

[Don Walcott]

Buxton over-ran that one.

[h2oface]

There goes the perfect game, and no-hitter.

[jimbo92107]

Damn, Buxton hit that fence hard. Has he got all his teeth?

[70charger]

With a debuting rookie on mound, I think it's probable that not having Buxton matters.

[h2oface]

Losing Buxton for one (no) catch is just not worth it in the regular season.

[ashbury]

Perfect game after one!

Not even a word of contrition for the jinx?

[Nine of twelve]

Buck needs to learn perspective. When your team has a 10-game lead over the second place team it's probably wise not to go all out for every possible catch. Keeping yourself in the game (and the next few games) is more important than giving up a double.

[Don Walcott]

Wonder when they decided the outfield was better off moving Rosario to right?

[ashbury]

I hope Castro was making good use of the long delay, to talk with Smeltzer and keep him focused.

[nicksaviking]

I hate the Buck is coming out.

I love that there appears to be a million possibilities to rearrange the defense.

Have you WATCHED Marwin in right?

(Although, if you mean Eddie to center and keep Max in right, I wouldn't disagree.)

[Mike Sixel]

Circuits?

Trust me on this one, yes.

Go all out and dive all you want coming in on balls.

It's shocking to me that he continues to have no awareness of the track or the wall when running back.

[Don Walcott]

Nice play, Miguel.

[Mike Sixel]

He ran hard into the wall again? He really needs to learn from this.

Buxtons shortened career is going to be riddled with injuries

Just noticed that Smeltzer is sporting the early-'70's high stirrup socks. Hardly ever see those any more. No comment on whether seeing them rarely is good or bad.

No such thing in the real world. Plus, I said it the whole game when Liriano pitched his no-no...... and he still pitched the no-no. There's proof for ya.

[Don Walcott]

Smeltzer handled that really well.

[ashbury]

It's shocking to me that he continues to have no awareness of the track or the wall when running back.

IMO he was aware, and that's why he missed the ball by inches to one side. If the park were abnormally large he might very well have caught it. His ability to track a fly ball is unexcelled.

Interesting thought - given the way he hit the wall and how the glove went flying, if he HAD gloved the ball, it might have popped out and gone over the fence for a homer.

[LVTwinsfan]

No fear in this guy, Smeltzer

[Danchat]

Alright, Smeltzer's impressed me by being able to keep that guy at 3rd base.

[jimbo92107]

I like the look of this kid Smeltzer. He's got game, and moxie. Pitched out of a lead off triple, dinking and dunking low-speed magic.

One-hitter through two.

Gonzo is good in LF, and Rosie is GREAT in RF. Good move.

[ashbury]

Davies' command is way off, too many times. Hope that bodes well.

[IndianaTwin]

Let's show them how to use a leadoff extra-base hit.

Did you do it in a TD game thread? Didn't count. The jinxes are real here.

[70charger]

Sano's got such easy power. I'd actually like to see him take a few more the other way like that instead of swinging out of his shoes to make a 410 foot shot into a 450 shot.
