Game Thread: Twins vs Brewers, 5/28/19, 7:10 CT

[PseudoSABR]

Just tuned in, and I see the box score, but how has Smeltzer looked? Smoke and mirrors? Unfamiliarity? or Legitimate?

[Mill1634]

What a debut. Let's hope the bullpen can keep it rolling and that the bats start up.

[Danchat]

Yikes... I don't like our bullpens chances versus theirs. I don't think we win this one.

[Dave The Dastardly]

I really dont understand why you would pull him and not let him go into the 7th.

When you got a lot of horses in the barn you gotta get 'em all a chance to run.

[bird]

I might as well give it away. George Mitterwald!

You're mixing Mitterwald up with Hal Narragon.

[LVTwinsfan]

Smeltzer has only thrown 69 pitches.

Im sure he’s gassed

[Mill1634]

Also, I don't disagree with Rocco pulling Smeltzer here. Yes he is only at 69 pitches, but he had been playing with fire for as good as an outing as it was. The bullpen is fairly well rested, and they have an offday tomorrow.

As I type this, Braun hits a double

[Hosken Bombo Disco]

Jack of all trades, master of .. not that one

[John Kelsey]

Buxton leaving costs another out.

[ashbury]

Every time Marwin is given a chance to impress me with his positional flexibility... he doesn't. He's a third baseman.

[LVTwinsfan]

Good thing they changed pitchers

What if most of the horses should be put down?

Some luck in there. He's a guy who pounds the hell out of the strike zone, and you have to think that contact catches up to him at some point. That said, he's got a quirky delivery, and maybe there's some deception there. I'd like to see him again.

Sometimes you gotta make glue.

[DocBauer]

Work, store, checkbook so I'm arriving late but followed on radio and tablet best I could. I know it's one game and his ML debut, but oh my did Smeltzer look good!

[ashbury]

Horsing around in a game thread.

As expected.

[ScrapTheNickname]

Good one, indeed. On one hand, not surprising when I looked it up, but not one of the first dozen or so guesses I would have had.

I didn't know if anybody would bite. Thanks for thinking about it.

[DocBauer]

From what I saw, no smoke and mirrors. Deceptive delivery. In the zone. Changed speeds and locations. His stuff broke crazy!

[Hosken Bombo Disco]

Has to be Marty Cordova.

No, you are thinking of the tanning booth episode Edited May 29, 2019 by Hosken Bombo Disco

I never heard that name before. Good one.

[John Kelsey]

Meanwhile Cleveland has a rookie that's shut out the Red Sox through five innings in his debut.

[ScrapTheNickname]

What if most of the horses should be put down?

What if the barn has flooded and is in the middle of a stream?

[70charger]

I didn't know if anybody would bite. Thanks for thinking about it.

Well I wouldn't have gotten it in a million years.

First call I make is to Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

[pierre75275]

Well....it was a good debut but he is no Andrew Albers

[notoriousgod71]

Magill shows some emotion.

[70charger]

Great strikeout! Suck it again, Braun.

[ashbury]

I didn't know if anybody would bite. Thanks for thinking about it.

I had to look it up too. Should have been easier than it was, at least for me.

[DocBauer]

Is it just me is Magill starting to look like he may be for real?

[Nine of twelve]

We hope not. Now THAT was smoke and mirrors.
