Game thread: Twins vs Jays, 4/16, 6:40 pm CST

[Hosken Bombo Disco]

Wow, last year, that is not a play I’m confident in Garver taking change of.

[jtkoupal]

There's that bullpen again!

Cody Allen? Nope!

Andrew Miller? Ha!

Adam Ottavino? You're Crazy!

CRAIG KIMBREL??? Nah we signed Blake Parker we're good!

[Hosken Bombo Disco]

Who did we send down so I can enjoy the Tyler Duffy experience for the 17th time?

Someone not as good as Duffy?

[John Kelsey]

The worst part about Duffey being back with the big club is watching everyone spell his name wrong again.

[yarnivek1972]

If Duffey could carve through that lineup, why do the Jays have 6 runs?

Edited April 17, 2019 by yarnivek1972

[Blake]

What was that? A strike out for the third out in an inning? Who was that pitcher and what has he done with Tyler?

[twinssporto]

Wait... Duffey's pitching? What?! I must have missed the transaction, I thought we usually create threads on moves like this?

That was the "old" TwinsDaily.  The "new" TwinsDaily is taking a more analytical, data driven approach.  I'd describe it as more quantitative than qualitative.

If someone gets on, there is NO WAY Astudillo should hit. Cron or Cruz has to pinch hit.

That's their handicapp.

Ahh come on, that’s the best part...

I think I know who I'm DFA'ing when Sano gets healthy. Plus, Torreyes is almost as good as he is, so we wouldn't be losing much.

Maybe we can trade him to Baltimore for some more Intl. Bonus money that we won't use!

A large quantity of players is equal to, or better than, quality players?

La tortuga hit what should have been ball 3 off the ground

[wavedog]

Swung at ball 3

In order to get respect one needs to earn respect. I will spell Dufy's name correctly if he doesn't need 40 pitches to get out of an inning. If Buffy, can start striking out numerous hitters I'll make sure he gets that extra f and e in his name.

ALL of these pitchers have their best years behind them. Allen wont be a closer by seasons end. Miller has been terrible. Ottavino has been solid but not great.

I initially read this as:

Maybe we can trade him to Baltimore for some more Intel

Intel sounds like a great idea! Just not sure if purchasing it from a team that lost 100 games last season is a good idea...

That is definitely not my biggest gripe with Duffy (sic) being back.

[drock2190]

Twins got Bubbles over at 1st base.

I wonder if he does that while catching...

No, you're conclusions are all wrong. It's always quality over quantity.  The formula is really simple once you write it down and work it out on paper. AB-DFx24+9A2^=X

[h2oface]

Hildenberger and Harper sitting at o.oo ERA still, yet they have together let in 10 runs after they took the mound.

[wavedog]

Great shifts all night!

[nicksaviking]

I don’t think Adrianza is as good defensively as advertised. Adequate would be the word I’d use.

[MMMordabito]

Is it just me or does Morris have this continual tone of disdain for the current day's game?

Is that what your people call “math,” and will it be deleted from the game thread...

[operation mindcrime]

Ehire Adrianza's name is an anagram for 'diarrhea hardener'.

If you throw away the Z and use some other letters twice.

So... maybe not a perfect anagram in the classic sense... but still not worth noting.

This has to be nominated for game thread post of the year!!! \m/

He does, but the twins (bleeped) themselves all night with unnecessary shifts.

[Danchat]

Great shifts all night!

Hitters have been free to hit through the shift all they like, but it seems lately that players are finally trying to beat it. We'll have to see how the Twins adjust.

[PDX Twin]

Games against Canadian teams don't count in the standings, right?
