Game Thread: Twins @ Kansas City 10:15 AM PT (Noon:15 PM CT) 4/3/2019

[Blake]

It looks to be another fine day for baseball. No, I don't mean the weather, I mean, any day is a good day for baseball. Granted, playing when it's 20 below out with three feet of snow on the ground might make things a bit challenging but hey, snow shoes, snowmobile suits and we're good to go, right?

Yesterday, the Twins played rather ineptly yet pulled out a win.

Hopefully, the Twins are a bit more ept and win going away.

Pitching for the Twins and making his 2019 Debut: Kyle Gibson.

I'm looking forward to seeing Mr. Gibson. He was fun last year and hopefully, we get that Gibson this year.

Pitching for KC: Homer Bailey.

I don't suppose there's a chance Mr. Bailey will live up to his name?

Play ball!

Dear Management,

 Allergy season is killing me.

Sincerely,

Here's Twins' lineup for today's 12:15 start in Kansas City:

Kepler CF
Polanco SS
Cruz DH
Rosario LF
Austidillo 3B
Cave RF
Garver C
Adrianza 2B
Austin 1B

Gibson RHP

[woolywoolhouse]

I assumed the first day game after a night game would see the bench (Astudillo, Cave, Austin, et. al.) start. Today's as good a day as any to get everyone involved and rest Gonzalez, Schoop, Cron...)

[Diesel]

Royals Lineup

Whit Merrifield ® RF

Adalberto Mondesi (S) SS

Alex Gordon (L) LF

Jorge Soler ® DH

Ryan O'Hearn (L) 1B

Chris Owings ® 2B

Hunter Dozier ® 3B

Martin Maldonado ® C

Billy Hamilton (S) CF

Homer Bailey ® P

1. Hello everyone! Long time lurker, first time creating an account/commenting. Looking forward to the game today. Interesting move to see Tyler Austin batting 9th.

Welcome to the site

[blindeke]

I think that our bench lineup is better than the Royals opening day starters. Yes, yes, I think so.

Welcome, but just so you know enumeration is optional.

Rookie mistake?

I batted 14th my first year of T-ball, so I can relate! Coach told me he wanted a second leadoff man down there.

Enumeration is all well an good but how do you feel about erudition?

Enumeration is all well an good but how do you feel about erudition?

If it can be dispensed with relevance and humility, I'm all for it.

...

For lo, doth it not say in the good book -

And Ump said "Let there be light"

and there was light. And the evenings and the mornings of the first day were good for baseball.

Thanks for the game thread intro, by the way.

Rookie mistake?

Not at all!

I appreciate the choice of 1, personally.

If i must put up with erudition, i will. For the good of the site.

We can't all be Jar-Jar Binks...

Welcome, but just so you know enumeration is optional.

However, remuneration is not optional.  In fact, it is not even an option at all.

We can't all be Jar-Jar Binks...

Amazing how such a misbegotten character among a multiplicity of pathetic creatures manages to stand out among the "Star Wars" oeuvre.

[Han Joelo]

1.  Astudillo

2.  Playing

3.  Third?

4.  So

5.  Saideth

6.  Carnac.

How has all the new Star Wars stuff come out?

I should perhaps track down the Solo movie finally, and watch it...

IN my opinion, increasingly poorly.

Public Service Announcement: Senior citizens, regardless of their hipness level should probably avoid a burger/pie combination as regular breakfast fare, even if they do choose to have the pie first.

Enjoy the game.

I thought Bailey was garbage. Twins go down in order?

[TouchEmAllGuy]

Gibby going to repeat what he did last year? take a step forward? or regress? I still don't have confidence in him.

[Cap'n Piranha]

This Royals team has a few pieces in the lineup, I don't think they're going to be a walkover this year.

I turn 55 today.... The plan was to buy pie last night, but the dang pie place is closed on Tuesday. That was totally going to be breakfast. I had to settle for an egg sandwich....

Would you trade Buxton for Mondesi straight up?

[Mike Sixel]

Would you trade Buxton for Mondesi straight up?

No. But I might have traded him in years past for a great pitcher, or Realmuto.... I'd still trade him for the right pitcher, but I doubt the other team would....
