Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 ANNND Welcome back weirdos! To another episode of Minnesota Twins Whine Line: Take a Chance! Edition. We got some things off our chest yesterday, and that didn't help get the win... Today is all about taking chances and being BOLD. Before we talk about that, let's do the baseball stuff. It's going to be a beautiful spring day in Minneapolis! 64 degrees at first pitch with partly sunny skies. REAL FEEL of 72 degrees with winds out of the ENE at 8 MPH. Minnesota Twins (18-23): 1. Brian Dozier (R ) 2B2. Max Kepler (L) RF3. Eddie Rosario (L) LF4. Eduardo Escobar (S) 3B5. Logan Morrison (L) 1B6. Mitch Garver (R ) C7. Jake Cave (L) DH8. Gregorio Petit (R ) SS9. Byron Buxton (R ) CF P - Jake Odorizzi ( R) - They took a chance by trading for him... And it's worked out okay! Milwaukee Brewers (28-18): 1. Lorenzo Cain (R ) CF2. Christian Yelich (L) LF3. Jesus Aguilar ® 1B4. Travis Shaw (L) 3B5. Hernan Perez (R ) RF6. Ji-Man Choi (L) DH7. Jonathan Villar (S) 2B8. Tyler Saladino (R ) SS9. Jett Bandy (R ) C P - Junior Guerra ( R) - 6 IP 3 H 2 ER 4 BB (!) In his last outing Minnesota Twins Whine Line is all about taking chances with a different theme every show... Some have been HITZ! And others have resembled a non-competitive Buxton AB. We've all taken chances in our lives, small and large. Let's think about taking a chance today! Call up Nick Gordon: There's a serious lack of options on the bench... When you're stuck leaving it up to Bobby Wilson to win a game for you, that's not ideal... Adrianza and his .525 OPS could use some time on the bench too. Take a chance on Nick Gordon! Trade for J.T. Realmuto: If Molitor is more comfortable with Garver as the backup C, let him be the backup... And UPGRADE to J.T. Realmuto! A top 5 C in baseball, and under control for 2.75 years. Take a chance on J.T. Realmuto! Eat a Gas Station Hot Dog: What's the worst thing that could happen?! Take a chance that the roller dog was placed on there an hour ago, and not a day ago! Plus, it's almost like you're at a baseball game... Call MOAR hit and runs: The Twins' situational hitting is atrocious... Let's SHAKE things up by getting the player's out of their comfort zone. The status quo isn't working, and who knows? Maybe they'll score more runs than they have been with RISP! Your turn... What have you taken a chance on in life that's worked out for good or bad?Let's get a win Twins!

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Author Posted May 20, 2018 Following up from our new bit yesterday... My dog's feelings about the Twins' chance at winning today: Indifferent
Blake Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Your turn... What have you taken a chance on in life that's worked out for good or bad? ---------------------------- Giving up welding to go into computers. Worked out extremely well! The bad: Well, I am a Twins fan.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 I took a chance and dropped my math major to go all in on music. Worked out extremely well. And I’m going to take a chance on seeing a bad movie instead of watching the Twins play. And it’s a big chance because I will have to go outside in 45-degree, rainy weather.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 I took a chance and moved to Portland, we bought my wife a business that relies a lot on referrals, which are hard to come by when you move to a new city.... Now she's the bread winner while I try to write a novel, among other projects. We love Oregon. Not moving again, I'd think
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 There wasn't room for Wade, because he's left handed. But plenty of room for Cave....
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Nice job again, Van! I took a chance on Mrs Chief some 37 years ago. It worked out preeettttttyyyyy nicely. For me anyway.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 There wasn't room for Wade, because he's left handed. But plenty of room for Cave.... Wade has not played the last two days after crashing into the fence. I am not convinced that they would have brought him up anyway, but it seems that he could not have played if they had.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Speaking of Peanuts baseball, here's a question. We all know that Charlie Brown and Schroeder are the battery, and Linus and Snoopy are the middle infield, and of course, Lucy is out in right field. But about 1B, 3B, LF, and RF?? Here's what I say:Shermy appears to be steady and solid so I say he's on 1B.Pig Pen loves to be dirty so he's gotta be at 3B.Violet seems to be quiet, but firm, so LF is a good fit. That leaves Franklin to be in CF, and Frieda, the one with the naturally curly hair sitting on the bench so she doesn't muss up her naturally curly hair, along with Marcie because she can't see very well.Woodstock is the 3B coach.

Of course he can't come up now. I should have been more clear
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 This dismal baseball has got to end..........today!
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 I just watched our injured 3B have a typical at-bat for Rochester. A bunch of weak foul balls, then flailed at a 3-2 slider and missed by a foot against a AAA pitcher with an ERA over 5. I really cannot say that I miss seeing that in the Twins lineup...

Or are they in the National League?
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 And who is the DH? Or are they in the National League?Peppermint Patty. At least until she can't stand not winning any games.
rghrbek Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 ER takes a count to 3 and 1, and then crushes it. Just think if he lowered that 41% out of strike zone swing rate to 30%? He would be the player he was for a few months when he carried the team offensively
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Can anyone explain why Dozier continues to lead off?

Very smart.. You took math just long enough to count 1 2 3 4 or even up to a sixteenth note and then you were perfectly prepared for Music.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 I'm impressed with Odorizzi through two, he's doing better than Gibson and Romero did against this good Milwaukee lineup.

Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Can anyone explain why Dozier continues to lead off?I think it's called thinking inside the box.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 There wasn't room for Wade, because he's left handed. But plenty of room for Cave.... Cave was on the 40 man Wade was not. Wade would require the release of someone to make room.

PDX Twin Verified Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 He's playing like it's some throwaway game up in Rochester! And he departed after walking in his 3rd plate appearance. I had switched over to the Twins, so I did not see if he was injured.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Cave was on the 40 man Wade was not. Wade would require the release of someone to make room. There are plenty of candidates.
