I don't think molitor's base running skills have quite rubbed off on this roster yet....

One of my working theories about managing is, I don't feel like guys who were naturally good baseball players--and Molitor was very, very naturally good at baseball--make good managers.

 

Things that they take for granted, because they always came easy to them, get lost in the shuffle. How to run the bases, where to throw the ball, when to look for a pitch, when to shift more toward the hole at SS. Those kinds of things, that seem so blatantly obvious to him...he doesn't feel like that's something that he needs to manage. Or teach. 

 

Just one of my theories. It applies to all walks of life, BTW. I had commanders who were kind of the same way. They were natural leaders their entire life, but made poor commanders, because they just assumed everybody already had the knowledge and skills they did.

Not at all. I was about 40 when I decided I needed a career change. Fortunately, ignorance favors the foolhardy because the thought never crossed my mind I might be a little old for a change in career path.

I think you're on to something. Someone who never had to really work to get where they're at isn't necessarily going to understand what it took for the less gifted to achieve.

If the umpire asks your starting pitcher if he's ok, it seems to me the pitching coach might want to make a mound visit.

It was out of the strike zone and basically identical to the pitch he's been striking guys out on all day. 

I actually concur. It was the perfect pitch, Aguilar is just incredibly hot.

 

"Fine his ass" is an old game thread joke.

The Twins lineup has potential when everyone is healthy. Clearly, though, they can't compete without a full lineup. This offense is putrid.
