Just tuned in, haven't read the rest of the posts yet. Just wanted to say that I have been very pleasantly surprised with Morneau's commentary in the games he's worked. He shares a lot of insightful points about hitting and strategy. It's unfortunate about his near-monotone delivery but if you can get past that he's good.

I agree... I'd like to hear more of him but he has to stop cuing the lawyers.

They were talking about the extension of the protective netting and Morneau says

I'm thinking the Twins Organization and the MLB offices will squirm a little when they hear those comments.

Fairly accurate, at least over the last couple of weeks.

Still trying to get the smell out.

I know you get it... But take a look at the 40 man.

Look at the pitching on the roster. There isn't an obvious pitcher to cut other than Hughes and they are not going to cut Hughes... yet.

Why cut Cave, Granite or LaMarre just so Wade can come up for 10 days and be sent back down when Mauer comes back or Sano comes back.

If Lamarre is on the forty man still.... And you have Cave and Wade.... And your manager doesn't play Lamarre much, what is Lamarre's purpose?

Granite too. These guys have no real future other than backup. Wade might. Also, I thought I pointed out that I was asking about when Buxton was down, not now.

How many backup outfielders do they need? I am not a fan of the roster construction. It just isn't balanced the way I'd do it. Which might be all wrong, admittedly.

SNEPP!  How's the world treating you?

Snepp can be "Snorm"

Incomprehensible how bad we are with RISP. Mind boggling. Even though the lineup stinks it’s hard to believe how many pitchers we let off the hook.

Posted

Yesterday I read there are actually 12 teams with a worse RISP average than the Twins.

I’d wager a bet that the majority of those 12 teams have plenty more chances with RISP than we’ve had

Whom would you suggest? I'd be inclined to give Kep a shot.

In fairness, he did put Mauer there, which was the right move. Now? If you are going to play Grossman, him. He takes a lot of pitches, and his only good skill* is getting on base some.

*Assuming the front office and manager believe he'll bounce back, which they must.

The Minnesota Lynx, the Boston Fire Department, my church "Welcome Newcomer" team, and who are the other 9?

2 outs and nobody on, right where they want us

I'm guessing you meant 2 on, nobody out, amiright?

Because otherwise, it seems like a pretty lame joke.

Go ahead and laugh, but the lynx have won more titles in the last 7 years than the entire state of Minnesota has in the last 60

Haha wow how’d I screw that up, and I’m not even drinking

Sometimes the answer is right in front of you.

Right, but have you seen them try to hit with 2 outs and RISP?? It's like they've never seen a major league fastball.

That last inning... Garver and Cave had legitimately good ABs, but Garver's screaming line drive was hit right to the left fielder and Cave's deep fly ball just needed to go a little further. So close... yet so far.

Well, I can assure you they, at worst, also wouldn’t have scored last inning.

I think a big league hitter swings at that 2-0 fastball Garver let go.

When you get yourself a predictable pitch, jump on it.
