A drama-less FRE, I'm kind of disappointed.

 

A little the same here, but on the other hand, I'm starting to buy into Rodney's apparent belief that every one of his saves is an occasion as momentous as the invention of fire.

One of my working theories about managing is, I don't feel like guys who were naturally good baseball players--and Molitor was very, very naturally good at baseball--make good managers.

 

Things that they take for granted, because they always came easy to them, get lost in the shuffle. How to run the bases, where to throw the ball, when to look for a pitch, when to shift more toward the hole at SS. Those kinds of things, that seem so blatantly obvious to him...he doesn't feel like that's something that he needs to manage. Or teach. 

 

Just one of my theories. It applies to all walks of life, BTW. I had commanders who were kind of the same way. They were natural leaders their entire life, but made poor commanders, because they just assumed everybody already had the knowledge and skills they did.

In my world of performing musicians, it’s a good theory. There are always exceptions to the rule, though. But I don’t think Molitor is one of those exceptions. Not everything can be laid at his feet, but there are just too many baffling decisions and I just don’t think he knows how to put it together.

So I'm assuming that Cave is a better fielder than Grossman, so why do you pinch hit for cave with Grossman when you already have a 2 run lead going into the 9th inning???

 

Grossman pinch-hit in the 7th while the score was still tied. It was to get a righty bat facing a lefty reliever.
