I think Bob Newhart, MTM, MASH, All and the Family, and Carol Burnett were amazingly all part of the same  Saturday line up.

Back in 1973... One good show would give the network the entire night because nobody wanted to actually get up and change the channel.

Did those scoreless 6 innings on opening day not happen? Odorizzi has given up 2 runs in his first 7 inning... and Berrios was 3rd in the rotation so he could pitch the first game in Puerto Rico.

Back in 1973... One good show would give the network the entire night because nobody wanted to actually get up and change the channel. 

Not a problem at our house. Ashburydad would say "ashburyjohn, change it to CBS," and seconds later it would happen.

Yep.  We had that same model remote control in our house, too.  When programming on any of the other three channels seemed more appealing, the old man would would enlist his remote control- I called it 'me'- and the channel would be changed in short order.

For me, the best pure comedy made was Cheers. If one considers MASH a comedy, maybe it is better. I don't consider MASH a straight comedy though.

Nothing ticks me off more than a pitcher failing to throw strikes to a helpless batter...other than the MLB forcing helpless pitchers have to hit.

Couple of months ago, my daughter attempted to take a dig at me and my age.  She didn't go nearly as hard at me as she could have.

Speaking of old TV shows... and bad baseball weather (it takes a special talent to be able to connect those two diverse topics, or just a couple of brewskis and a bifurcated mind - two out of three ain't bad) but back when I was a kid every Twins game on TV was played during a "snow" storm.

 

Even in July.

 

It was what we called super low definition.
