diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Disappointment seems to be the theme of the day around Twins Daily. I am personally disappointed in my game record, as I’m still winless. We are disappointed that the team is in first place, disappointed in our bullpen construction, disappointed in Joe Mauer because he’s not superman, disappointed in our first pick of the draft, disappointed that Kyle Gibson is starting tonight, disappointed in that abomination of a baseball game yesterday, and somehow even disappointed with the loveable TC Bear. So… let’s go for something different and talk just about appointed. Strangely enough, that carries a much different meaning, certainly not the opposite of disappointed. Lately, it’s simply the newest of Trump cabinet members, as the previous holder of said position was disappointing and thus fired. And that is about all I can do for humor today, so I’ll leave you all disappointed. Things to think about. 1. Kyle Gibson. He’s definitely been a bit disappointing this season, especially given that I was one to say that I thought he would turn the corner. Apparently, he got lost on that street and made a few wrong turns, got hit by a bus or four, and briefly ended up in New York. However, he’s quietly strung together some much better outings of late. We have to root for him to have figured this out, because to be honest, there’s not much hope in the high minors. We are stuck with him for a while. 2. Christian Bergman. This is our opponents starting pitcher. Bergman is a 29 year old journeyman (if you can call him that) with a career K/9 lower than Gibson. With guys like Buxton and Rosario at the plate, we are placed in a classic baseball paradox. Something will have to give tonight, or else the entire space-time continuum might rupture. Bergman hails from Altadena, CA. There is very little of note about Altadena. Altadena is to Los Angeles as Altavista is to Google. 3. Needles. The city of Seattle is known to be the home of the world’s largest and only space needle. Its exact purpose is hard to comprehend. We use needles to draw blood or weave fabrics together, but neither of those are applicable here as space is vast and empty. 4. History. History was a kind giver today. She gave us the Miranda rights in 1966, the Pentagon Papers in 1971. She also bequeathed us Dorothy Sayers, Lolita, and Hurricane Agnes. 5. We are still in first place. The last time we were in first place and picking 1 overall, we drafted some kid named Mauer in what turned out to be an impressive draft class. Mauer certainly hasn’t aged like fine wine, but he was HOF worthy for his first decade with the team. So to Mr. Lewis, here’s to hoping you prove me horribly wrong. Good luck.
Jax Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Time to start winning at home boys. Should be able to watch this one tonight.
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Should be able to watch this one tonight.Good, because yesterday's game seems to have been unwatchable.
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I am concerned about Chris Giminez. He doesn't seem to be able to keep his ERA below 9 for very long at a time. Does he have minor league options? Perhaps he can get his pitching repertoire together with a stint in Rochester.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Twins win tonight, easy peasy. Sano, Kepler, Buxton homer, Gibson gives up 2 runs in 7 innings.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I'm still a bit disappointed that Vargas didn't take 3B on defensive indifference last night in the 9th. It's the little things in baseball that amuse me during games like last night.

ashbury Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Offensive indifference?Yes, very much so.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Offensive indifference? With nobody covering 3B, I just wanted to see the big man do it. I was begging to be entertained by that point.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 pythag, man, pythag!Pythag...pfffft. So 2007, man. Base runs!

Rookies need to take their lumps in the majors before being counted on in higher leverage roles! *Checks Twins Media Guide*Oh, he's 34. Won't be serviceable until he's 37 at least....
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Today's my last day before heading out on vacation... So I've been thinking deep thoughts. - Waldo's parents have to be worried sick, no? - How many times do you say "Bless You" to a person who's sneezing? By the 4th or 5th time, they need to get it under control. - I burnt my tongue on hot soup today... Really made me realize sometimes it's the ones you love that hurt you the most.
Jax Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 2 hours from game time!! Been reading through the entire site and I must say I'm very impressed with the posters. Everyone seems to respect other opinions -- and there does not seem to be a lot of open trolling like the KFAN Rube Chat. Wish I knew about this place years ago. Go Twins!!!
Ebby Calvin Laloosh Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Isn't there a "Space Needle" in the fairgrounds?

Don't forget Carmen Sandiego. I mean, where in the world is she anyway?!
