IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Per Phil Miller, Twins option Pressley to Rochester and DFA Wilson. Two new guys coming, but not yet announced. Someone was passionately arguing for Monday to be a bullpen reset day. Didn't that happen today? Consider, here's how the bullpen shapes up tomorrow: Kintzler: Last pitched Sunday (34 pitches) and Saturday (16)Belisle: Monday (17) and Sunday (30)Boshers: Tuesday (31)Breslow: (Probably not available -- threw 3 of the last 4 daysDuffey: Hopefully not needed -- Wednesday (11), Sunday (6), Saturday (30)Rogers: Sunday (20), Saturday (13).New guy No. 1: ???New guy No. 2: ??? Doing the bullpen reset today may have made more sense than on Monday. Today it was with Santiago against the best team in the league (majors?), a tough game to win. Monday and Tuesday were Santana and Berrios, our best chances to win. But if we struggle the next couple days, I hope Saturday's call up is Crash Davis. A Sunday rainout wouldn't get made up unless needed.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 With the DFA, I wonder if one of the AAA guys doing well is getting the call. With the option, I'd guess Rosario or Melotakis is coming up.

Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 One would think that Busenitz would be a slam dunk with his 0.785 WHIP and 10.0 K/9. He last pitched on Thursday, if his MiLB game logs are up to date.

With the option, I'd guess Rosario or Melotakis is coming up. I wouldn't read much into it yet. They still could DFA Rucinski or Tepesch. They could also put Hughes on 60 day DL. I have heard not word one about his prognosis.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Who do you mean by Wilson--Wheeler?
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Is it a coincidence that Joe Nathan just asked for his release from his Nationals minor league contract? I jest. The unless the Twins actually sign him. Then I'm a soothsayer.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I'd be surprised if Nik Turley does not get the call up. Pino took his turn in the Rochester rotation today. The other one has to be on the 40-man and I'd venture to say that it is Melotakis. Rucinski cannot come up and Tepesch is on the DL We.Shall.See.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I think Pressly just needs a mental break, not a demotion. Well he can have that mental break in Rochester now. Heaven forbid Breslow or Belisle be cut loose.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Also Jon Broxton got released. So along with Joe Nathan, there's you're two open spots.

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I want to pose another question to the group here: With the Front Office shuttling relievers with fresh arms back and forth from Rochester so frequently, is it really necessary to carry 8 relievers then? (13 man staff instead of 12)?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Wimmers? Sigh. Someday, someday there will be pitchers in the minors to help. Alas, today is not that day.

twins_89 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 The twins bullpen collapse has been like watching a train wreck. The bullpen went from middle of the pack in March/April to dead last in ERA at the end of May.I'm not sure what the solution is at this point, especially since the team seems reluctant to call up anybody who might be considered a real prospect.

Reluctant is a clear understatement at this point.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Wimmers??? WIMMERS???? THAT'S THE GUY YOU GO WITH?!?!
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Seth Stohs reporting on twitter that Alex Wimmers is going to be called up to Twins. If your going to bring him up you might as well give Tonkin one final shot to show something, if the retread route is the way they are going. Would rather have Tonkin back up than Wimmers, at least Tonkin has stuff that if thrown properly would get people out. Wimmers has allowed 4 HR to AAA hitters in 16 IP. Didn't the Twins just send down a gopher ball artist?
Blake Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 This carousel is astonishing. The guys getting off the plane are probably waving to the guys getting on the plane.* *Yes, I'm being charitable by calling it "waving." Family friendly, remember.
OldTimeTwinkie Provisional Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Why isn't Tyler Jay able to help this team? A top 5 pick, college reliever?
Blake Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Let me toss this out: The more experienced pitchers are being shuttled through because FalVine doesn't trust Molitor with younger pitchers.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 But they aren't. They aren't shuttling guys back and forth that have options. If they were, then yes. But, that's not how they built this bullpen. You are right not all do, but I will estimate about half these guys going back and forth do if you count Gibson and Mejia. By the way, yes this now really does feel like last season.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Why isn't Tyler Jay able to help this team? A top 5 pick, college reliever? He's pitched 2 innings this year. Let's at least see if he's healthy before we start clamoring for him. And trust me, I'm all for clamoring.
Han Joelo Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 That was a bloodbath. Like the Twins, I think I will make spaghetti for dinner. Pressly had a chance to move up the chain this year. Ce le vie. Wimmers. Change the m's to n's? Hmm... Whammers? My sentences are getting progressively shorter. As is my reservoir of patience. Where are you Glen? Free Jay.
