Mike Pelfrey has signed with the rival Detroit Tigers.  At least we don't have to worry about TR being tepmted to bring him back again.......

Well, this is one way to reduce the amount of strike outs for Twins batters in 2016.

I get the 1 year deal, but 2 years and $16M?!

Yeah a one year flyer, even at 8M, I'd understand.  But committing to 2 years?  I guess Detroit likes Tommy John Procedure Alumni

Scott Boras is the best agent in the world.

Indeed he is.  You think he'd represent a Catholic School teacher in Chicago?  Maybe help me get a few more bucks?  I mean, if he can get 16M for Mike Pelfrey, he's a miracle worker!

I got news for the posters here,  Nolasco is ABSOLUTELY tradeable, given the huge salaries of starting pitchers.

Don't you think we would have traded him if that was the case?

This would (hopefully) be a case where after most of the FA pitchers sign, a team that missed out would be desperate enough to take Nolasco off the Twins' hands......

Wonder if the Tigers are interested in Milone as well.  He beat Pelfrey out of ST ;)

yeah, now we have an idea what Milone is worth (and I might add he's been a better pitcher too)

Sorry, even Pelfrey only got 2/16, coming off 164 IP at 97 ERA+.

That doesn't mean Nolasco is tradeable, owed 2/25 coming off 37 IP at 62 ERA+ (and 159 IP of 73 ERA+ the year before).

Why would a team assume that risk when guys like Bud Norris are signing for 1 year, $2.5 mil?  Happ and Estrada just signed for similar years/AAV as Nolasco is owed, and while neither is a star, both are in a much better position at the moment than Nolasco.

Of course, Nolasco could be dealt for a PTBNL if we ate a ton of cash, but that's true of just about any player.

Maybe the right deal hasn't come along.  The point is though that he is tradeable.  Contrary to some of the blogs here stating he is "GOING NOWHERE"

Because he only has two years left on his deal and he has been a work horse since 2008 (with the exception of 2015).  Doesn't mean I like him.

I am 100% with Spy.  A market for Nolasco may exist if we ate $15M of the remaining $25M.  But probably not.

The Twins would absolutely, without hesitation move him if someone took his contract and we would not ask for a single thing in return.  I have no doubt that we would rather take 2/25 to the open market and see what we can get.

1 year and $8M.

By my count, Pelf will have made $25M over four years (3 with us and next year). Scott Boras is the best agent in the world.

According to Fangraphs, Pelfrey was a bargin for the Twins, worth $26 million but cost only$15 million.  Last year he was worth $15.9 million, so either Boras is terrible or Fangraphs valuation are.

When you remove the innings he would have pitched FOR the Twins, and combine that with the innings he will now pitch AGAINST the Twins.... I'd say that really adds up to something special.
