Just so ya know….Varland has a 0.96 ERA with 49 Ks and only 10 walks over 37.1 innings this year.  How’s that trade working out, Mr Smart Guy?  Geez, no wonder Falvey left town.  He wouldn’t have survived the heat!

It has saved us about 300 articles on TwinsDaily speculating about when he would be traded this season and how much they would get in return.

Again with this bullpen 🤦‍♂️

Is Sands the only "reinforcement" coming back from the IL any time soon? Even at his best it wont be enough.

Even the starters, outside of Ryan, aren't pitching well. 6 runs should be plenty to win a ballgame.

SANDS is 3-4 weeks away after “set back” is my assumption.

ROJAS will go to the PEN within 2 weeks.

Abel back in 7-10 days …… will allow PARADES to be used in “relief” instead of “Opener”

Ober back in 2 weeks, will allow PRIELIPP to go into the PEN.

Lawrence - Adams - Lawyerson will get displaced…….is my assumption.

I can question it. The pitcher had a hard time throwing strikes. Caratini swung at a pitch out of the zone. Keaschall took a swing at one just about in the dirt. Both were in the second pitch. Batters should have had a real small strike zone until they had two strikes. I would have trusted Martin to manage the strike zone over Caratini and get Buxton in the box.

I also don’t get it defensively if they tie it up. Who are they playing in the outfield among Bell, Keaschall, Lewis, Lee and Gray? I guess they give up the DH and put Buxton out there.

Yeah, let Martin bat there...maybe he works a count, maybe he beats out a roller (try that with Caratini!) and maybe he gets a hit. Counting on Caratini in that situation is quite a long shot.

Hard to remember- and horseshoes and hand grenades -  but Lawrence was a strike away from a 1-2-3 inning.

…You can’t hit a ball much harder than Jordan Walker did. Dang it, if we get out of that inning just down 2, I think we come back to win that game.

Yes, one strike away...but then he became our Babe Ruth League pitching machine! Go figure...

Prielipp gave us some innings  , first 2 innings were not favorable but kept them off the board the next 4 innings and kept us in the game as we tied it up ...

Prielipp is new to the MLB and not an established pitcher yet but he managed to go 6 innings , give him credit for adjusting to their hitters , it's a learning experience ...

Rocco would have replaced him alot sooner than 98 pitches  ...

Yes, to all of that! Sure, Prielipp struggled, but he hung in there and DID give us some needed innings until the expected bullpen implosion happened.

Twins are lost in some things, they blew it with SWR. He was sick last season, to begin the season, he was sicker than a dog & they still pitched him!? He got out of sinc & behind & never got the opportunity & slack to recover before they DFAed him (like we had a ton of great experienced pitchers!). He got some rest & TOR put him in the BP. As expected he pitched 4 scoreless innings against Philly. Twins need to get their act together pertaining the BP.

Yes that's what I'm saying...

Some players rise up when the situation calls for it and some fold like Buxton does. Thats why he has 22 homeruns and only 34 RBI. Absolutely pathetic

Your posts are consistently negative and angry sounding.  Do you enjoy that?

I think Shelton could plead temporary insanity by that point

Prielipp gave them a chance to win it, the bullpen did not.

I mean... in theory, haha. Every run a pitcher allows drastically decreases the chances a team will win the game. 4 runs allowed in 6 innings makes it very unlikely a team is going to win. That means your team needs to score 5 runs with 3 innings left for the bullpen to cover. Even a good bullpen would be expected to allow 1 run over 3 innings. So Twins would have been expected to need to score at least 6 to win.

In general the team scoring the following number of runs' winning percentage.

Score 0 = 0% chance
Score 1 = 5% chance
Score 2 = 10% chance
Score 3 = 25% chance
Score 4 = 45% chance
Score 5 = 60% chance
Score 6 = 80% chance

That's just off my head. I did some analysis on that a few years ago. About what I remember. Anyway, that's why 5.0 innings and ERA of 3.99 or less is so much more valuable than QS. 6 innings 3 runs or less. If a pitcher goes out and allows 3 runs in 6 innings, there's a way lower chance to win the game vs. 5.0 innings and 2 runs.

Well me and @USAFChiefare at least 10 fans a piece

Are you grabbing your tickets through the box office or resellers? I think the days of the extremely great deals on resellers is over. There are so few season ticket holders left there aren't a lot of tickets offered for sale. I'm seeing prices similar to the box office (I can certainly appreciate that as a former season ticket holder who used to lose their &^% on selling extra games I couldn't attend.)

I feel like, in previous seasons, getting tickets at the box office at Target Field itself skipped a lot of fees. It's not skipping them anymore.

I know everyone wants to get on the Bullpen!

1) Team was down 2-0 after 7 pitches……. what if a reliever did that? The Wrathforbtge PEN!!  Prielipp threw a fastball strike on pitch one, and then threw 4 straight non-competitive balls for a walk to open the game. 2 pitches later - Home Run. Ugly as a start of a game can be! 2 more earned in 2nd inning. It was like we were throwing a bullpen game. After throwing 4 more innings, scoreless, Prielipp still doesn’t have a Quality Start.

2) Generally, Banda - Morris - Paredes have looked like normal, solid guys out of the PEN over last few weeks.

Rogers stuff is marginal to below average, so he has to pitch nearly perfectly to navigate through MLB hitters.

Don’t get Funderburk not being in the current bullpen? I know he’s frustrated everyone with his walks & general lack of command. He pitches OK in 3 or 4 of every 5 outings. Lawrence & Adams, regardless of stuff are bad at least 1 of every 2 outings.

Orze is decent 2 of 3 appears.

None of it is great - PEN construction by FO  and their (PEN) execution down there are not good!

Rojas back soon - Ober back, when he’s back, one of the current rotation goes up brother PEN. Sands in 3-4 weeks. All upgrades over Adams - Lawrence - Lawyerson

This weekend probably has more Cardinal fans than Twins fans because they are a far better team.

Hate to say it but right now Banda is the best BP arm in the pen. And Lawrence should be given his walking papers today. And Taylor Rogers not far behind.
