  1. I'm happy for Fedko who earned the promotion. I am a bit surprised that Arcia was released as I think Gray was a better candidate to be released. I previously commented that Kreidler should be released but his defense at SS is quite solid and I like that the Twins defense should be improving as they slowly get players in the correct positions.
  2. Your posts are consistently negative and angry sounding. Do you enjoy that?
  3. Of the 3; Kreidler's value has dropped given that Clemens is now playing an adequate CF. If two are gone, I would retain Arcia. He hit well for St. Paul and has continued that with the Twins and he has a track record that demonstrates he can do this. He is an ok fielder.
  4. I fully agree with your comments. Keaschall's play at 2nd has been poor, but his hitting has been solid the past 5 weeks. The Twins aren't going anywhere, so let the guy play. His upside exceeds Kreidler, Gray and Arcia's. I would swap Kreidler for Culpepper right now and continue the youth movement. You can do this now that Clemens appears to be a reasonable back-up for CF (instead of Kreidler).
  5. I wish I understood why Keaschall can't seem to improve at 2nd base. He is too good of an athlete to play like this. At least his hitting is slowly improving.
  6. Mick Abel's performance is extremely encouraging and hopefully after another start, or two, finds his way back to Minneapolis. The Twins starting pitching needs to become healthier because Prielipp is almost certainly on an innings watch list.
  7. I was angry when it happened...and now I'm angry all over again! Johan was incredible during his great years.
  8. Absolutely no for Wallner. I'm not even sure he can be an emergency outfielder. If the Twins need another outfielder now, I would call up Fedko and move kreidler back to St. Paul. Fedko can take over back up CF duties (and LF/RF) and the Twins have too many mediocre middle infielders. Having a guy whose only position is DH is just plain untenable for a team that needs to try out their younger players.
  9. It may well be that Lewis is the best bet for first. Groundballs should not be a problem. Footwork and receiving errant throws are the primary questions.
  10. I am hopeful that the Twins call up Culpepper to play SS. Another player that is seemingly read for the next step is Winokur. I'd love to see him move up to Double A to see if he is ready for the next progression in his career.
  11. I agree, I am not remotely ready to give up on Keaschall. His hitting seems to be picking up and he is too good of an athlete to continue playing so poorly at 2nd. If his defense does not improve, then he becomes a likely trade candidate.
  12. I was at that game when Ben Revere wiped out. That young man could really motor. As I recall, he left one of his shoes behind between 2nd and 3rd.
  13. I think they are hoping he clears waivers and goes to St. Paul. But I like the accountablity.
  14. I don't think the Twins are able...or willing to extend Ryan. If they are/can, then they should. If not, get a proven return on player(s) that help the major league roster now. I am assuming that they trade him and if they get a worthy return, I am all for it. Let's not forget, the Twins get Lopez back next season to go with our promising youngsters.
  15. I do think that step one is securing the Twins top pitchers longer term. Step 2 is ensuring the Twins only invest in more athletic (read better defensive) players. If those players are on the farm or elsewhere, that should be their 2nd priority.
  16. iShelton has restored accountability to the Twins, and the team is playing hard and appears to be having fun. I have appreciated his letting starters go deeper into games, perhaps out of necessity, and helping the defense improve by removing the worst offenders. His lineup construction makes sense, and he doesn't appear to change it as frequently as Rocco Baldelli did. This is about Shelton and not Baldelli, but I can't help but comment on how refreshing it is to see a manager manage players and the game rather than play statistical roulette.
  17. So many things are going well, but I believe the refreshing change in culture to one of accountability has contributed greatly. Shelton sits players who are slumping, gives them a chance and if they still don't perform, he makes a change. (Wallner/Lewis/SWR). Outman would be gone if he could fill the role differently or if Emma hadn't been injured.
  18. The Twins won yesterday's game with good defense and pitching; both starting and relief. The most recent moves made by the Twins seems to support holding their players accountable which was not a hallmark of the previous regime. I really like it. Wallner would not have gotten near the ball that Martin caught in RF yesterday. Kreidler looks really good at SS, who knows if he continues to hit. And Arcia hit at AAA and thus far with the Twins. He seemingly should stay up. The Twins are a much more likeable team and not just because they are winning (although that helps!).
  19. Polanco was working his way down the food chain when the Twins traded him. He played a poor 2nd base his last year; was becoming injury prone and his hitting was fading. Other than that, he was just like new when we traded him. He was crummy his first year in Seattle with a good 2nd year. Polanco was a great MN Twins for a number of years, but he was not the same player when they traded him. The logic behind the move still seems good. They traded him when there was perceived value. Pity the same can't be said with Royce Lewis.
  20. I think Larnach's play has created value for a trade. And while I like the guy, he is in the way of our young outfielders who appear to have higher ceilings.
  21. I agree with many of the comments offered. I will add that once upon a time Royce Lewis was a superior athlete. He seems entirely caught up with mechanics. Perhaps he should be more athlete and less thinking.
  22. Gabriel has been hitting better the past 2 weeks and hopefully a couple more weeks before calling him up. But I prefer him to Sabato who has certainly improved the past 2 seasons, but alas, I'd prefer the youth of Gonzalez and his greater upside potential.
  23. I think the article does a good job pointing out that the Twins have some pieces in place to have a future. With that in mind, I don't ever recall the AL being so bad. Whether the Twins can eek into the playoffs, or not, this is not a team built to win in 2026. I would not trade up and coming players for a shot at the playoffs this year. I would continue to push to get the young players experience at the ML level. The starting pitching has been truly excellent and their numbers are likely understated given the porous defense behind them. They may well be able to build a competetent bullpen by converting some of our starters. SWR, Royas, Matthews and Festa could make an interesting bullpen later this season and into 27...if we have a season.
