  1. It's not a wrong decision to bring up Arcia. As TJSweeny noted, Arcia played very well for the Saints. I would have brought up Culpepper to see how he handled the jump. Gray is trending downward, so it might be a matter of time before it's both Culpepper AND Arcia on the big club. I think Royce Lewis needs a good bit of time before he is back in consideration...and it's a gigantic IF.
  2. Fantastic Doc. I agree with you 100%. Much has to happen, but there is potential if the Twins would just move forward with the potential of their youth and make bullpen committments as you noted.
  3. Seriously? The Twins have several players that are readily dropped without any pain. Outman, Topa, Garcia and that's the tip of the iceberg.
  4. None of us are in the mind of Royce Lewis. We can evaluate his numbers, understand the eye test and listen to what he says. With all that in mind, it appears to me that he needs more than a reset with the Twins. He needs a reset and a change of scenery. Unforunately, his trade value is virtually non-existent. I don't know the correct answer for Royce Lewis, but the Twiins need to do what is right for the team first. I would send him down and support him as well as they can, but he is not playing at a major league level and that should be how the Twins move forward.
  5. I like Martin in left as well; however, if he and Larnach are in the same lineup, Martin is a better athlete. Larnach is finally playing a decent left field and needs to stay there. I like that Zebby was pulled even though he had more in the tank. His first ML start this season and pulling him guaranteed 100% good feeling.
  6. I must have read too quickly regarding the outfielders. I do agree that Lewis needs to be managed carefully if there is any hope of him contributing for the Twins now, or in the future. Someone mentioned sending him to Ft. Myers which might not be a bad idea as it could feel less like a demotion and more like an opportunity to work on things. SWR is just a huge question mark as moving to the bullpen might not help him or the team. Perhaps a tired arm injury followed by rehab with St. Paul.
  7. Well now, I was poised to show that quote and say basically what you did. I will add that there are very few individuals that don't face pressure to perform, regardless of their careers. His immaturity and lack of awareness are both concerning.
  8. You beat me to it. I don't know what universe has the Twins with a largely stabilized bullpen.
  9. Both Rojas and Funderburk have control problems. If the Twins had a competent bullpen, you would want those two to better master the strike zone in St. Paul; however, we all know the bullpen is poor. I'd just as soon go with these guys who can also get outs rather than the retread club. Topa might be the biggest disappointment in the pen as he demonstrated some level of competence last season.
  10. This made me laugh! "Unfortunately, the Twins now employ Cold Josh Bell™ (not to be confused with the legendary Cool Papa Bell), who struck out in his sixth straight plate appearance to derail that potential rally." Thanks for the entertaining writing!
  11. I'd like to see Culpepper brought up and Lewis sent down, but you can certainly make a case for Arcia instead; especially if you want to give Culpepper more time at AAA.

  13. Is it posibleI that Wallner is awakening from his season long slumber? Who will the Twins pick up next off the discount rack for relief pitching? I see that Paddack is available...pass
  14. As always, thank you for the informative updates and great writing. I like this quote especially! "If a Wichita Lineman were listening in the wires for another score, he would be disappointed. Maybe he should take that small vacation, after all"
  15. I really like Ryan, but I can not conceive of the Twins paying him market value AND I can't see Ryan wanting to resign with the Twins. As noted by others, this is not a contending team. They should maximize Ryan's value through a trade.
  16. Keaschall and Lee are both looking better and better. I have to join the conga line and take my beatings over Larnach. I was convinced he should not have been tendered. Glad to be wrong. I still want to see the youngsters, but Larnach, at the least, is a more compelling trade chip.
  17. While Jenkins has had more than his share of injuries, his most recent injury does not conjure images like "made of glass". He smashed into the wall.
  18. How low can you go? Man, the entire Twins system is under a dark moon. Festa had a set back. Jenkins looks bad, but we can hope for the best. Emma took batting practice...so that's good. And Ryan...what's next?
