  1. Baldelli earned his "launching". A great manager makes his team better than they can reasonably expect to be. The Twins underachieved. Falvey certainly should have been fired too; he did not, but it does not change that Baldelli had to go. And it's pretty hard to fire the owner...if only we could!
  2. Paddack should have kept his mouth shut. Burning bridges is rarely a smart move...and especially for a player who is, at best, becoming a journeyman.
  3. It was like he was in a dream state. Baldelli must have been shocked to the core based on whatever Falvey was telling him. That said, Baldelli butchered the situation in an inexcusable manner.
  4. The more things stay the same, they stay the same...
  5. If I could ask one question at all...recognizing it wouldn't be answered it would be; "Derek, aren't you accountable for the current status of the organization, and if so, why are you still here?"
  6. I don't care for the hire, but hope I am wrong. I don't like how Falvey has run the organization and I think the Pohlads are terrible owners who are at the root of the Twins problems. That said, I will continue to pull for the Twins even though I've moved out of the area. I don't know if this is badmouthing, or what, but I don't think there is a lot of value in just being a pollyanna.
  7. "It's the same old story, same old song and dance, my friend" Aerosmith, Get your wings. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss". The Who I'm feeling grumpy with this hire. I would be thrilled to be wrong...but until Falvey is gone we will experience Groundhogs day.
  8. I agree that they ought to protect Fitzgerald simply because the Twins have so few options at SS.
  9. 100% agree. As you said, he is a mediocre to decent platoon DH. Those at bats are better utilized finding out about our youngsters. The Twins are not going to be world beaters next year. let's find out what we have.
  10. I had to look it up; MSP is the 16th largest metro with 3.7 Million souls. Houston, on the other hand, has the 5th largest metro at 7 million souls. I think they qualify as a pretty large metro with much greater financial resources.
  11. Good one! The premise alone made me laugh.
  12. Twins need to listen, but should not be enticed by prospects. They need players who can contribute at the major league level. Pretty much anywhere on the infield.
  13. This is too painful. It's relieving our misery the past two years ever since the infamous "right sizing" statement.
  14. Very interesting perspective. I've kind of felt this way too; but was unable to put into reasonable expressions.
  15. Trading Ryan requires major league ready players. Positions of need at catcher, and anywhere on the infield.
  16. Rowson appears to be a fine hitting coach; however, I don't think the Twins should have anything to do with the philosophy that lead to the bomba squad. Makes little sense to me if the Twins are going in a scrappier direction.
  17. I agree with most of the responses that Torii is a no. That said, I think he would bring leadership from management that has been sorely missing. I seem to recall him putting Justin Morneau in his place when he wasn't working hard enough as a rookie. Regardless of who the Twins hire, they need leadership attributes that have been missing and a focus on fundamentals.
  18. I read that as well; however, it could easily be a signal to the league that they will have to pay up to pry either of those guys away.
  19. None of us know which way this is going, but for starters, I do not believe Larnach will be on the opening day roster. His spot is better utilized by one of our young outfielders. I don't view this as a money saving move, but a smart baseball decision...which, of course, has to weigh the value of money against the roster spot and internal growth. I'm not crazy about keeping Wallner, but his salary is compelling and he still has upside...whether he taps it is another question altogether.
  20. He looks like a guy that ignites teams. I expect his fielding to be much improved in 26
