  1. DocBauer, you certainly stated what I've been thinking since reading about the announcement. This was a pretty big change and I would not be surprised if it was more than internal Pohlad politics that made the change. If Tom Pohlad was the primary guy around the sale/iinvestors, those same investors may well have demanded this change. And I think it unlikely this is the only change that they are demanding. It would not surprise me at all if Falvey is now on the hot seat...if he stays at all. I am appreciative that Tom Pohlad specifically called out the ridiculous, tone deaf, communications from our recent past. The right sizing comment was, and remains, an unforgivable statement.
  2. I share your take on his letter to ticket holders. Joe was not a good person to head up the organization.
  3. Twins need(ed) a first baseman. That is where I feel the Twins should have traded for.
  4. I don't view Lee as a long term SS, so not sure why you would move Culpepper off SS so that Lee can stay in the position.
  5. I said that pitching was a strength. So start with getting the quote right. And the Twins have numerous promising starting pitchers that in a package can gather promising position players. Also, I did not say premium talent. Your rephrasing changes the meaning of the original post to fit your perspective.
  6. Seems like a surrender signing. I would have liked the Twins to trade from their pitching strengths to gain a first baseman that has a chance to be a real solution. Bell is another DH. We've got plenty of those guys.
  7. Good for Carson. He continues to make a living doing what he loves to do.
  8. And at the managers level; a great manager helps his/her team to perform beyond normal expectations. Popkins was likely held back by Falvey, but he clearly did not get his players to perform to expectations. That said, he was a scapegoat for Ownership and Falvey's failures.
  9. I've seen a couple of comments that indicate Lopez or Ryan for Mayo. Glad they are not the GM. Ober would be worth it to see if Mayo can perform. I like Ober, but his loss of velocity is a big concern.
  10. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, did you enjoy the play? I pretty much agree with you.
  11. Nice article. It was an enjoyable read.
  12. That is an interesting plan. With that in mind, the Twins have so many promising young outfielders, that I would like to see them in left and right field next season. I still think Keaschall can be a solid 2nd baseman. That leaves the problem at SS. I think the Twins ceiling in 26 is decent; but not in contention for anything other than a possibly watered down central. I'm willing to wait at SS for Culpepper to be ready. If he doesn't develop as hoped/expected, then the Twins have to make a move at SS.
  13. I really want the Twins to move Larnach. I don't dislike Larnach and he is relatively solid. But I want the Twins to give our young outfielders a true chance.
  14. Happily, you are right. I was only somewhat concerned regarding Fedko. However, with the Twins needs at First Base, I think Fedko is worthy of a good look in spring training. and that would have made him worthy of protection. Our options are bleak at first base and the Twins indicated they are not considering moving Larnach or Wallner to the position.
  15. That's the bottom line for all responses. We are fans and don't know as much as the team. What is your point? You could make this comment on every single response. That said, Gasper, Kreidler, Outman and possibly Julien are guys that I don't see adding value to the Twins. And yes, THAT IS AN OPINION! Happily, Culpepper and Fedko were not taken.
  16. Of course you can't believe the Billionaires comments on money. And Falvey is signing his termination if he thinks this team just needs tweeking to compete.
  17. I am very concerned about Culpepper and somewhat concerned about Fedko. As Tony & Rodney pointed out, there were plenty of players protected that have no chance of a meaningful contribution to the big club.
  18. We will have to disagree. With his age and injury history he is not even close to worth what you stated.
  19. Failing injuries, I can't imagine Outman making the Twins out of Spring Training. He cost next to nothing to acquire and the Twins traded much more to acquire Roden...not to mention that Roden appears to have a future; something that is not there for Outman.
  20. And to your point, I think the Twins need to replace both corner outfielders to improve their defense and speed. Perhaps hang onto Wallner as a DH and emergency outfielder.
  21. As a long shot, sure, anything can happen. But can the Twins compete with the best teams in the AL with their current bunch. I don't see it.
  22. Those are the guys I think have the best chance of being good players.
  23. Forgetting the numbers. If the window for success were open, you could consider another old rental. The Twins either need to develop a young first baseman, convert an existing player to first or trade for a young, controllable player. The window is not open, so another one year rental makes no sense to me.
  24. I'm with you on nearly all of this. I really think that Jax was just bad last year. While the metrics are saying bad luck, his sample size of getting crushed was significant. I think that trade is a win; however, as you and others have stated, we need a couple of years to know.
