  1. Not immediately. But the Twins are going nowhere with Duran.
  2. I don't think either of those guys help the big club. The Twins have a lot of work to do repairing the numerous weaknesses on the 40 man roster. I do understand that Funderburk is no worse than others, but it is a not a complement. Upgrading talent & depth for 2026 is critical.
  3. I agree that Funderburk should get off the shuttle; however, I think he should get off the 40 man roster. What does a guy have to do to prove he isn't a ML pitcher?
  4. Like Polanco before him, it was more than time for Max to go elsewhere. It is truly a shame the Twins didn't trade him during the previous off-season.
  5. I'm amazed at the commentary around Polanco. He certainly wasn't missed last year and this year, he would be another DH on a team full of them. Polanco was a very good, and likeable, Twin for many years, but let's keep in perspective where he was at in his career for the trade.
  6. Yup; the trade deadline will, hopefully, help clarify things. That said, they should move Fedko up too. Not impressed with the players at AAA. Even Emma Rodriguez is becoming more of a question mark.
  7. And take Kaelen with them. Our best prospects are in AA. Let's move them up! Not much blocking them in St. Paul.
  8. I disagree. Varland is looking like a very solid late inning pitcher. If the Twins get the right return for either Duran or Jax, I would do it. I would only trade one of them. Let's say it's Duran traded. That leaves the Twins with Jax and Varland to close things out. The twins could do worse. You got to give to receive.
  9. I do hope the Twins are sellers and able to get quality returns for their efforts. For quite awhile, I've felt the team could make the playoffs but were not a contender to go deep (without luck). Consequently, they should try to improve. I believe the Twins biggest short term needs are at catcher and first base. There are other needs as well, but these appear to be the most glaring. I believe the Twins can attempt to solve first base (next year) by converting Royce Lewis or one of our corner outfielders who aren't exactly twinkle toes. I am not suggesting who they get, but I would consider trading any of the following major leaguers. Again, trading is dependent upon what they can get in return. Larnach or Wallner. Duran or Jax (needs to be a very solid return) Any of our free agents while hoping they can retain Bader. This off season, the Twins need to take a harder look at the 40 man roster. There are too many players on it that are not deserving. Off the top of my head; Funderburk, Davis, Misiewicz, Tonkin, Camargo, Vazquez, Julien, Miranda and Keirsey are not going help the Twins to the promised land. The bottom line, is the 40 man roster is weak. The Twins appear to have players that can help at AA but could be a year away. The next two weeks should be very interesting.
  10. I think our best infield is Lee and 3rd, Correa SS, Keaschall 2B and Lewis at 1st.
  11. We will have to disagree on their ability to play first. Also, Lewis's ceiling is much higher than France's. Not sure why you mentioned Santana as he plays for Cleveland.
  12. I'm not against trading for a first baseman, but I think long term, the Twins should convert one of Wallner, Larnach or Royce Lewis to first base. Tell them at the end of the season to buy a first baseman's glove and be prepared to work.
  13. Castro might. And I would do that if the catcher has a couple of years of control.
  14. I think the trade deadline will hopefully bring an end to Julien's reign of iron glove terror with the twins. He is hitting pretty well and some team might want him. It seems like Matthews will be back soon and perhaps Ober. I doubt the Twins can get much for Paddack, so moving him to the pen could accomplish the need to lengthen the back end of the pen where he can work long or short relief. Too late for this season, but I think Royce Lewis would look good with a first baseman's glove...unless he can no longer hit. While I would love to see Castro stay, I doubt the Twins will re-sign him for the money he will deserve. Consequently, they ought to be able to get something in return for him at the trade deadline. Martin and/or Clemens would then fill his role.
  15. Just watching Buxton this year, his stroke looks more compact. And he did a great job in the Derby.
  16. You asked about our doubts. I doubt he will remain in AA past the middle of August...and hopefully sooner!
  17. I think it would be prudent to sit Correa so he has a long break to properly heal.
  18. I agree. While I think that Twins should be willing to trade Duran, none of the players mentioned, by themselves, are enough. They should be looking at the guys who are going to be Free Agents. Castro ought to bring a back-up catcher and I'd do that. I don't think Castro is playing very well. His fielding has seemingly (to the naked eye) regressed and he makes dumb plays.
  19. I would like that too. I would be remiss if I did not give props to Kiersey's tremendous outfield play last night.
  20. I'll start by setting aside the no trade clause. The Twins are my team. But there is not a lot to like in terms of watching well played baseball. By that I mean, fielding, taking extra bases and all the little things. Buxton does those and it's a joy to watch. I hope they don't move the player who is, by far, the most interesting to watch.
