  1. I'm between a thumbs and and thumbs down. I agree about 26 as a development year and 27 as a likely washout season. That said, I hope the Twins don't trade our best starters.
  2. I agree and the Twins were never going to get a lot for Stewart, although Outman is a joke. I also like the Jax trade in that the Twins have a pretty good shot of having a regular 4/5 starter from it. Let's not forget, Jax has not pitched as well this year. I don't like the Varland trade for many of the reasons stated; however, i would also add, that it was probably not a good business decision from a fan engagement perspective.
  3. thumbs down for the porcelain body comment. He has been injured frequently.
  4. I fully agree. Unfortunately, it seems like the Twins bring their players along so cautiously.
  5. It's certainly not wrong to keep Culpepper and Jenkins at Wichita. Culpepper is 23 and I would like to see him moved up this season to St. Paul. He gives good reason to believe he is the SS of the future for the Twins. Some seasoning at AAA this year could bring an outside shot at making the Twins out of spring training next year, but more likely later.
  6. Of course no one wanted him. It's wishful thinking on my part. Bottom line, is that he is wasting a roster spot with the Twins. DFA
  7. It would be pretty surprising if Falvey keeps his job. I hope this is not wishful thinking; however, the current state of the Twins is, for better or worse, 100% on Falvey. He built the team that failed. It's hard to imagine someone smart enough to be a billionaire would keep someone who failed so spectacularly. I'm probably not smart enough...and definitely not cut throat enough to be a billionaire!
  8. It's just plain enfuriating that the Twins are carrying those guys on the ML roster when they are not players to either audition or build around. I throw Julien into the same "why" mix.
  9. Julien got a nice double that should have been a triple yesterday, and the day before, he blew a double play ball. I wish he had been traded so the Twins could stop wasting roster spots on the guy. The best case scenario for Julien is he is an adequate hitter with no position. The Twins already have plenty of those guys.
  10. I would like to see some urgency with the Twins in moving their best minor league players up as quickly as possible. Culpeper and Jenkins should get whatever is needed in coaching and assistance and need to have a shot at making the big club quicker than the usual Twins cadence. And I still can't wrap my head around the Varland trade. It seems so wrong headed.
  11. did not get called up today which is disappointing.
  12. I agree. This won't be a popular perspective, but I felt like Willi was not himself the past couple of months. His fielding has become average (at best). Thankfully, he wasn't playing CF of SS because he was terrible there. He made base running blunders and just did not seem like his head was in the game. We got a solid return on this deal...unlike many of the others. While on that...wth regarding Varland? Dunderhead move.
  13. Let's not forget just how absurdly Rocco handled putting him in...then taking him out (for Clemens) and then removing Castro from the game. A masterly performance from Rocco. I bet he got a phone call in the dugout asking why he was pitching Jax and playing castro.
  14. Darn it, I don't want to agree with you on point #1. And yet...you may be right.
  15. Yesterday was "the day the music died" for me. I certainly hope no more deals are made until new ownership can clean out Falvey & Rocco...especially Falvey. It's to quibble over returns for our players (especially Duran), but I can not wrap my head around moving Varland. He has real potential to be a top tier closer. I actually think the one good move was getting 2/3 of the way out of the Correa contract. You can't rebuild will so much payroll tied to a diminished player. That said, I just don't see how the Twins can field even a competitive team in August and September; especially when you consider our best minor league players are mostly at Wichita. At best, we can look forward to 2027 and that feels like a reach.
  16. And now it's a fact. Hopefully, the Twins don't owe too much of the contract. The Twins can't rebuild with Correa's contract hanging around their collective necks. Quite the yard sale going on.
  17. Joe Ryan is as close to someone who should not be traded as you can get with the Twins. That said, if a team really wants Ryan, they have to take Correa too. I'm not a Correa hater; however, his contract is a burden on the team being able to either retool or clean house.
  18. Funderburk and Tonkin are retreads that won't be on the 40 man next year. I am good with Ohl getting a chance.
  19. It's a no brainer to be cautious with him. If Bader is traded, I would hope that Emma is available to call up.
