  1. 100%; I feel completely empty about the Twins going forward. Sadly, the fans can't fire ownership. And ownership won't commit to winning AND ownership won't clean house (at least Baldelli and his staff) to give an appearance of caring. The fan base has had it with the spread sheet decision making on top of the horrendous financial direction ownership has taken. I would not be surprised to see attendance sink to 1.5 Million next year. The Twins are becoming the Oakland A's only with a lovely stadium partially funded by, wait for it, the FANS.
  2. So true. We can't fire the owners and the owners won't sell. Pohlad indicated he had to make tough "business" decisions. ok, do the Pohlads recognize what keeping Baldelli will do to their bottom line when attendance bottoms out next year?
  3. Chip Scoggins article in the paper today hit the nail on the head. Pohlads either need to reinvest in the team or sell the team. We talk about not making change and expecting different results; however, it starts with the ownership. And they blew it 100%. And how ridiculous was it to blame the TV Contract situation on salary reduction. Any smart business person builds in a plan B and plan C especially when there is so much risk. All that said, fair or not, Baldelli has to go. The fan base is mostly disgusted with him and it certainly appears that the players aren't hearing him. What a mess.
  4. I think the realistic chance of contending ended with Ryan's injury. Twins only had two go to starters after that. And then everything unraveled. Terrible.
  5. Tigers vs. KC. I suspect the Twins would be best served if KC takes that series. Would like to see the Twins win 2 of 4 in Cleveland and then 2 of 3 in Boston.
  6. I agree, but not wholeheartedly. How many of us (definitely myself) did STUPID things when we were 21? I do agree the Twins had to release him; and the first video that was part of this article demonstrated the guy appears to be a butthead. I would like to believe that he can grow up and be a decent individual.
  7. And I think other players are deflated by Baldelli's treatment as well. Hopefully, this will get resolved upon the conclusion of the Twins season.
  8. I'm not in the anti-Baldelli club, but pulling Bailey was inexplicably nuts.
  9. I've felt positively towards the Twins all season (after the awful start); however, they are running out of players who can realistically contribute. I just don't see how the pitching staff can hold up in the playoffs. Our top two starters are studs, but it's all youngsters after that. And our vaunted relief depth is pretty well exposed. Perhaps Varland can be a one or two inning guy and do well. They certainly need that. Always hopeful, but a nice playoff run doesn't seem to be in the cards this season.
  10. Maybe not a savior, but his first two innings went well. He just can't be asked for more than that. PLEASE!
  11. I agree with you. I am concerned that one reason could be the Twins are not bullish on Correa returning this season. They haven't exactly been up front on the injuries.
  12. I think we are going to see Varland start this week against Tampa Bay. After that, I hope he moves to reliever.
  13. That was incredibly informative! Thank you for the analysis!
  14. Darn it, Kirilloff's hitting abilities seem so legit, but the continual resets after injuries are wrecking his chances. While I like the opportunity to come back after proving himself at AAA next year, I think it is more likely the Twins move on...and you can't blame them. I like the above quote; "Maybe he makes it back elsewhere, and that's ok." yup.
  15. I think Paddack is finished as a starting pitcher. Maybe he starts a few games if/when he returns this season, but I think his future is relief pitching.
  16. i suppose a minor league contract doesn't hurt; however, the fact that this is a conversation makes me sad. Between the off season and the trade deadline, the Twins missed their opportunity for starting pitching depth.
  17. Farmer should be gone. RPR, what is your thing for Farmer? You thumbs down anytime someone says something against Farmer. Farmer is one of the worst players statistically in the major leagues. I sure hope the Twins dump him when Brooks Lee is back OR call up Julien who is seemingly finding himself.
  18. Julien seems to be rediscovering his game. I hope he keeps it up. Twins might need him if Brooks Lee is out for awhile. Meanwhile, somehow, Kyle Farmer is still with the Twins. My goodness.
  19. 100% disagree with this comment. Sano did not lack talent. He lacked many things, but talent was not one of them. I'm not sure about Julien, but tend to agree with others that he is stuck in his head.
  20. Nice article. I especially agree, that if healthy, we are set at starting pitching for the hoped for playoffs. That said, the Twins did need depth for starting pitching to ensure reaching the playoffs and I think that is why Varland needs to continue to start at AAA until the team is closer to the playoffs and we have a healthy staff. After that, Varland should be permanently converted to relief pitching. He's not going to have a career as a starter. He could have one as a reliever.
  21. Nice article. I'm especially happy to see Wallner hammering off-speed pitches which were killing him before he was sent down.
  22. I ought not be disappointed in the Twins ownership as they are simply doing what they said they were going to do. My bad.
