  1. As I said weeks ago every team knows pitch this team in the bottom of the zone. The other thing this team can't hit junkball pitchers. You will see that tonight with Perez pitching for the Braves. And of course he is a LH pitcher so Shelton will load the lineup with RH bats. This is the week to show up or start setting up their golf reservations for October.
  2. There isn't a single person here that thought this team would be in the position it's in at the start of the season. You all wanted the rebuild to start in April and now that they still have a chance it's bring up this guy or that guy. They brought Culpepper up and he hasn't set the offense on fire. The 1st of September is just around the corner and they will add Jenkins and a pitcher. And then again Buxton will probably be on the IL,because I think he just wanted to play the game in Iowa. Which ever team ends up being the 3rd WC in the AL or the NL has 0 chance in the playoffs.
  3. Sorry but Keaschall is a player without a position. He can't field the ball at 2nd and even if he can field the ball in the OF he can't throw the ball. When he makes a throw it looks like he is short arming the throw. His throws are more rainbow than line drive. His bat is fine, but defense is hard to watch. Can this team afford to have him in the lineup everyday. Because the team can only have one DH maybe he is the DH against LH pitching. It would give the team a better look at Roden for the next couple of weeks.
  4. Lewis was on MLB before the game and told Harold Reynolds he was going to go deep to LF. That's hard to do when you SO numerous times. Watching Taj start the game he doesn't have the mental makeup to pitch in a game like this. He needs more experience before having him in a game like this. You saw how Nola handled it versus Taj and its more between the ears than ability. The whole lineup looked like deer in the headlights swinging off balance and striking out again and again. They all seemed to be trying to hit one into the corn.
  5. Watching the games over the last week its easy to see that Clemens needs to take a seat. He has become an automatic out, with his only hit being a bunt. And Keaschall is a player without a position. He can't field at 2nd and he can't throw from the OF. With Lewis now getting most of the play at 1st that also means he can't play there. He may need to go to St Paul and Jenkins take his spot. I don't know if his throwing a baseball can be fixed or not but it's not working as is. It is a real problem for the team and their chances going forward.
  6. When Buxton went on the IL they could have brought Jenkins up but didn't. Why is that, maybe they know something that we don't. If fans want to see Jenkins or Culpepper play they do play just a few miles from Target field. The way I see next years roster it will look a lot different because this roster is full of multiple position players. As a player you need to know what position is yours to play, not what glove you need. If there is such a logjam in the OF why didn't they move someone like Wallner. He is another one who could have been up to replace Buxton but they chose not to.
  7. DFA this guy or that guy isn't going to help a team that can't hit pitches in the bottom of the zone. Every team is now pitching this team at the bottom of zone. The other thing is with the stacked RH lineup against LH starting pitching Clemens is the best hitter. The SP has been terrible since the break giving up runs in the 1st and 2nd inning game after game. Hard to win when you have to come back from a deficit again and again. Really tired of the booth saying Taj this and Joe that when you see they are at 40 pitches after 2 innings. Hopefully the new SP with a 6+ ERA can get passed the first 2 innings tonight. I turned last nights game off after the 3rd inning because I saw the hand writing on the wall. This team can't keep Witt off the bases and a single or a walk is the same as a double. The time is now to show up or look to next year.
  8. Don't know what game people are watching, but since the break just 1st base alone has had Bell,Caratini,Clemens,Jackson and Lewis. And 2nd base Clemens,Keaschall,Kriedler, and Lewis and Lee 1 game. It really doesn't look like the infield is settled to me.
  9. Its pretty plain and simple you play musical chairs with your infield things like this will happen. Last night Shelton moved Lewis to 2nd late and Caratini to 1st and had 5 infielders and still lost. Caratini was not able to get the ball down the line. At times Shelton seems to over think the game. Not saying Lewis makes the play but probably reacts differently than the night before. If or if not more trades are coming the team has to settle on the infield positions to remain in the playoff run. They can't keep giving extra outs to the other team.
  10. Clemens was on MLB Central and DeRosa said he was going to go deep in the game and he did. It was a great win and everyone should be excited. This teams biggest problem though is can't hit LH pitching. They stack the lineup with RH bats and are just not getting it done. If they want to get a playoff spot this will need to change.
  11. After Sands had a hard time to get 1 out in the 6th inning why would you think it was a good idea to send him back out in the 7th inning. The lead had been cut basically in half and the momentum was now in the A's favor. There has to be something going on with Buxton because he was terrible in the whole series. Maybe he hurt his hip again making the catch stepping over Martin and hitting the fence. They can't look past the Royals just because Witt is on the IL. The next road trip has the Mariners and the Brewers as well as the Royals again and Witt could be back next week. It's all hands on deck for the next 12 games or they can look to 27.
  12. Even a Little League team score a couple of runs when they have 7 walks. This one falls on Shelton, should have PH numerous times and didn't. Caratini looked like he had zero interest in being in the box after fouling the ball off his knee. Bell and Lee were flat out terrible hitting into inning ending DP's. Just maybe Clemens,Larnach or Roden could have sparked a comeback. This hurts because both the White Sox and Cleveland lost and the Tigers won and only a half game back.
  13. Trading Jeffers and or Jackson may be on hold until Caratini is ready. He had to be helped off the field last night. The last thing a catcher needs is a bruised knee. If they still think the team is still in the division or WC they can't go with one catcher if Caratini is on IL. This is just another thing that has happened to the team they didn't need.
  14. One out of the last 4 games has been watchable. This is starting to look like the same team that came out of the break last year. They had a workout last Thursday that apparently didn't do anything to get them fired up for the 2nd half. They will be a seller if they get swept by Cleveland and should be.
  15. Love the folks who always say the team needs to increase the payroll. How has that worked so far. Did that work for them signing Donaldson or Correa and with Lopez going down has been a drag on the staff. With the CBA coming at the end of the season the team needs to at least play the next 10 games and see where they stand. I think the owners have a better idea of where the negotiations are heading then anyone here does. With the Jeffers situation being what it is he should be traded before the deadline. He has been unavailable for weeks and the team stayed in the mix. With Larnach and Bell, can you really trade 100 RBI away to replace them with a rookie who could look over matched in the box. With Roden being called up over Wallner I would say that is the end of Wallner as a player of the future. So let's move him for whatever he brings.
  16. Had the SP in trouble in the 1st inning and fell flat after that. Bad at bat after bad at bat with runners in scoring position. With the Angels getting in at 4 in the morning it was the Twins that looked like they got in at 4. Can't give games away to the worst team in baseball. Even with Buxton and Trout on the bench the Twins are the better team but didn't show it. With the new FO Kurt Suzuki being on a 1 year deal will be shown the door at the end of the season if not sooner.
  17. This is what happens when you have a real manager and coaches who know what they are doing. You win games you shouldn't because they are playing all 27 outs. They put pressure on the opponent's SP with good at bats getting pitch counts up. Even with 2 outs the inning is not over.
  18. The team is still in the mix right now for the division or a WC spot. And trading a 100 RBI player by the end of the season for the possible future what. The team has a log jam of OFers and IFers as well. So we get a BP arm or a A or AA SP that is years away. Right now you win games by scoring more runs than your opponent. If people really think a trade of Bell will bring another Ryan are wishful thinkers. Look around baseball SP are a premium because of arm and shoulder issues.
  19. From what I see is they have to be careful about messing with the chemistry of the team. If they drop 10 games of the next 15 then make moves. If they win 10 then try to get a couple of BP arms using a Wallner and a prospect or 2. Right now other than Jeffers who is on IL everyone but Gray and Fedko are producing hits and runs. As it stands the AL is wide open and the NL will be fishing there at the deadline.
  20. Comparing Bell to Wallner as the DH is a bad idea. Bell is able to stay in the lineup with a LH pitching change and Wallner can't. Both are really bad defensively, but until this team falls out of the division Bell is far better at DH. Both are not good trade chips because of age and with Wallner also in AAA because of his K-rate. After today's game watching Fedko hit was absolutely unwatchable and needs to be in St Paul. If Buxton can't play bring Roden up because his bat plays and Fedko's doesn't.
  21. At the point of this trade the BP cupboard was bear there was only 2 arms left. And then the new FO did nothing in the off season to fill the need. And now have had to get DFAed arms and bring an arm from Saints up today and down tomorrow. Plus the 2 arms that were left,1 has been on IL all season and the other has had trouble throwing strikes and been back and forth to AAA. With the team playing far better than anyone thought this team probably would be a .500 team or better with a BP that Varland was a part of. The other trade that hasn't seen fruit is the Duran trade,Abel needed to be part of the rotation and is on the IL until probably September. And yes he may be good to go next year, but they needed him this year. When Lopez had the have TJ that left a big hole in the rotation and Abel would have been the answer.
  22. They go to Yankee stadium and put their choke collars on. The only player who showed up was Clemens the rest were lost. There was one miracle in the game Funderburk pitched 2 innings without walking anyone. As soon as Orze came in I knew the game was over,up to that point there was a chance. Watching Gray's one at bat where he struck out on 3 pitches how is it he is still on this roster. If they want a chance at WC spot changes have to be made sooner not later and he is one of them.
  23. Who do all of you want at bat after 90 game with RISP, Bell or Buxton? For me I go Bell every time. A majority of Buxton's RBI are solo homeruns. As it stands Lee,Clemens,Bell and Larnach are the hitters you want in the box with RISP. The biggest problem this team has is the BP, with a 7-1 lead the game was not over. Just like last Friday with a 7-0 the BP fell apart putting Laweryson in the 6th let the Astros back in the game. Both Laweryson and Gray should be on their way to the Saints today. Watching Gray his bat is now affecting his play in the field. And Laweryson is a RH Funderburk can't put hitters away.
  24. Plain and simple this one was all Ryan's fault. The Astros hitters weren't swinging at has waste pitches so they got to 3-2 counts. His pitch count was 91 after 4 innings. The other problem was the lineup that had Burrows on the ropes in the 1st and let him off. He was at 25+ pitches after one and they decided to swing at first pitches making quick outs. They have to be excited about what Raya did in this outing. He got out of trouble in his 1st inning and pitched a 1-2-3 second inning.
  25. Hate it bring it up again but Buxton is not getting it done. With no outs in the sixth and Larnach on 2nd he hits a ground ball to SS not advancing Larnach to 3rd. Next man up Clemens hits a fly ball to deep RC that would have scored Larnach easily. Why not PH Bell for him in that spot with Buxton as DH and not playing CF. The way the series was going all weekend the Rockies were not going anywhere. I think PHing Bell for Larnach was a mistake. Watching Larnach bat the whole day he was hitting balls on the screws. Plus that took another player off the bench because Bell isn't playing the OF.
