Hate it bring it up again but Buxton is not getting it done. With no outs in the sixth and Larnach on 2nd he hits a ground ball to SS not advancing Larnach to 3rd. Next man up Clemens hits a fly ball to deep RC that would have scored Larnach easily. Why not PH Bell for him in that spot with Buxton as DH and not playing CF. The way the series was going all weekend the Rockies were not going anywhere. I think PHing Bell for Larnach was a mistake. Watching Larnach bat the whole day he was hitting balls on the screws. Plus that took another player off the bench because Bell isn't playing the OF.

First off we have to stop blaming attendance on payroll. It's not payroll that's the problem with the Mets or how about the Guardians. The FO over the last few years was plain and simple terrible. They drafted poorly and made bad trades. You have players in the minors who everyone wants to see but can't stay healthy. You have players who can't perform on the big stage and have to return to the minors as well. And last but not least the location of the stadium is not good. The lack of law enforcement in the area is a concern.

You now see why DeRosa went with PCA more often than Buxton in the WBC. Buxton had 2 chances to get a ball in play and struck out both times. Yes he has 25 homeruns, but he is not getting the job done with runners in scoring position. It maybe is time to PH for him a time or two to help him work to get the job done. Last night was a game that was there for the taking.

If this team wants to keep the fans interested they can't give games away. They are in the mix for a WC spot coming up to July, why leave Voth in when you see the hitters hitting 100+ linedrives. If you want to just throw games away I guess this is a way to do it.

You gut the BP in 25 and only have 2 arms left with 1 in St Paul and 1 on the IL. Then have a infield still in flux after 80 games is a problem. The situation with Buxton not running the hit out is a problem in itself with the hitters all standing at home watching the ball. This should be a film that all managers show to their teams. I get tired of seeing the players not running out hits.

Is This Guy the Next Willi Castro?
David Maro replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The roster as it stands is the problem with players who started the season playing out of position. With Lewis back and being a player without a position he is learning 1st on the fly. Because of his draft status they moved Clemens off 1st where he had played well. And of course Lee was horrible at SS and had to move to 3rd taking Lewis's position away. They now have musical chairs at SS and still a weak defender at 2nd. So as it stands the roster is a lot of Willi.- 22 replies

This weekend probably has more Cardinal fans than Twins fans because they are a far better team. Hate to say it but right now Banda is the best BP arm in the pen. And Lawrence should be given his walking papers today. And Taylor Rogers not far behind.

Twins 6, Tigers 4: Dingler? No, Dingers!
David Maro replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Time to be honest here the whole infield is subpar and has now gotten ever worse. How has that happened, bringing Lewis back and having him learn to play 1st on the fly. With Kody who played it fairly well now being moved to the OF adding another LH bat there. Lewis was drafted as a SS so play him there instead of changing who plays SS day after day. That is a position he knows and should be able to play.- 12 replies

They can say the weather was an issue and what ever excuse they want, but this is who he is and has been. They got a pitcher with a history of command problems and Tampa got a pitcher who wanted to be a SP who can't be. The biggest problem is the rotation is missing arms with Ober,Abel,Festa and Lopez on IL. And then of course SWR being so bad that he needed to be DFAed.

The Twins Need to Cash in on Kody Clemens Right Now
David Maro replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Looking at Castro and Clemens they seem to be one in the same. After they were given a chance to play everyday they showed they can preform. With someone like Lewis who yes was a number one pick has been unable to stay on the field or has not lived up to the pick. Again a change of scenery may be a need for both parties. Does the team really need to play the long game with him like they did with Buxton. The team really needs to move away from players who take years to preform. Everyday people say trade Larnach who has taken years to get to where he's at a part time player. This roster is full of part time players and will be years away from a run in the division nevertheless playoffs. -
The Twins Need to Cash in on Kody Clemens Right Now
David Maro replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Love how everyone thinks its time to move on from a player who is actually contributing and can play numerous positions. How about moving on from a player like Lewis who doesn't have a position. Why is it that he gets chance after chance and now getting to learn to play 2nd or 1st or who knows where next on the big club. It just might benefit both parties to move on because as it stands its not working. -
Shelton told us everything we need to know about this team the other day. He said Buxton is the CFer and all other positions are interchangeable. How is the team defense going to improve if you come to the stadium not knowing what position you will be playing that day. Playing a game without a error has become a luxury for this team. And yesterday DFAing Outman for Lewis almost cost them big time. With Buxton sore from hitting the wall Larnach and Kreidler both could have joined him on the bench. This team is looking like a real clown show. The only thing missing is the tiny car for them to climb out of at the start of the game.

Musical chairs at SS has and is a liability for the middle infield. Added to that a poor defensive player at 2nd will put more games in the lost column. If Buxton isn't in CF the whole defense up the middle is one of the worst in baseball. Why are they waiting to bring up someone who can play SS. All you have to do is look at the pitchers face when they see a bad play behind them. It isn't helping any of the slow to react players either with the over shifting. Time and time again with the pitchers missing their spot and hitters putting the ball in play in a straight up hole created by the shift.

This team is who we thought they were!! Just who as a fan looking back at the trade deadline thought the FO was making the team better. The ownership ordered the gutting of the team. Just how many teams would lineup to trade with this team for this roster. Other than Ryan or Buxton and Jeffers who by the way is on IL no one. I guess you could put Bradley on the list as well,so that puts at 4 players out of 26. Look for a long summer at an empty stadium.

Looking around the league SP are dropping like flies. He will get claimed by Monday afternoon. Maybe his new team will be able to get something out of him. His biggest problem is and has been walking himself into trouble. Watching him pitch this year has been hard. His splitter that was his out pitch was noncompetitive and he needed to to get away from using it. This team has far bigger problems than if SWR is on this weak roster. The last week should have told the fans just how bad this team really is. By next weekend you can put 5 more losses on their record.
-
This is what happens when you play musical chairs with the infield. Don't have enough everyday players on the roster. Saw this loss from a mile away, asking the BP to pitch 5 innings again is asking to much. When only getting 2.1 innings out of SWR the day before and Bradley's short day it was easy to see the outcome.

First off SWR was probably going to pitch in this game after Rojas started. We saw the same problem with him game after game walking himself into trouble. You can't go 0-2 on a hitter and then walk them. His splitter is not working,no one is swinging at it because it is noncompetitive. Looking at the roster who believes that there is more than 2 or 3 starting players on this team. Everyday its who's at 1st,2nd,SS and now even CF. For this team to be were its at in the division is a surprise to everyone. It's more because the Royals and Tigers are worse. All the folks who thought that the White Sox would be bad haven't been paying attention. At this point they own the Twins.

Royce Lewis Needs to Have an Open Mind
David Maro replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
More than likely moving him off of 3rd could effect his bat all over again. I think we all know that if Rocco was still managing Lewis would still be with the big club. Look how long it took Shelton to move Wallner and Lewis. Maybe Zoll stepped in and helped with the move. After all this is a business that needs butts in the seats. The weather is now warming up and playing Gray and Arcia as everyday players won't help in that regard. This team is a mess with far too many same position players that are now being moved all over the field. Look at Clemens who has played 1st,2nd,RF and now LF. The only positions that are consistent are catcher with Jeffers when healthy and CF with Buxton when healthy. Martin was moved from the infield to LF to play against LH pitching and now playing RF and even CF. This to me shows Falvey left an organization in flux that is going to take a couple of years to straighten out. -
Why is it that they need to make everyone a power hitter? He in my mind is a gap to gap hitter with warning track power. He and Martin along with Buxton put pressure on when they are on base not rounding the bases from a solo shot. This team leads all of baseball with bases loaded that has been something that previously didn't pan out because everyone swung for the fences.

The Brooks Lee Third Base Era is Beginning
David Maro replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If they think Lee is going to stay at 3rd then it may be time to move on from Lewis. The problem with Lee he has to work on throws to 1st because he doesn't have the arm that Lewis has. That was a big problem early on with Lewis was wild throws to 1st that he has improved greatly. Everyone is talking about oh boy Lewis has hit a couple of homeruns he is ready to return. Let's not get ahead with ourselves he needs to show that he has figured things out for more than a handful of at bats. As of now the whole infield is in flux. Everyday it's who's playing 1st,who's at 2nd,SS and 3rd. In my mind players are playing for a roster spot for 27.- 38 replies

What Does Royce Lewis Need to Improve at Triple-A?
David Maro replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Here we go again first words out of your mouth were he hit a homerun in his first at bat. Well I guess he's ready to come back to the team. After his IL earlier this year he hit a homerun and they brought him back right away. He should have stayed for a period of time then. He should stay now until he shows he can hit above 200 and is showing more than a homerun here and there. He is off balance in the box and swinging at pitches feet out of the zone. He may need until the AS break to fix all that's wrong with his approach.
