Fangraphs has a lot more than this, but this is the summary on Mendez: (in addition to noting he hits 60% of his struck balls on the ground!):

Mendez is going to be a nice big league role player despite his flaws, though his overall impact is going to be limited by 30-grade outfield defense.

Pretty much what was happening, except Lee is now the SS. And they don't have a closer. Or left handed RP that can get an out. And are down one set up man. (maybe Castro?)., So, lots of losing.
