I’ll look and see how they manage to fill out a roster for tomorrow… But there’s no way in hell I’m wasting time in the near future watching this team on TV. And unless there’s an organized Sell the Team protest for a home game, I won’t spend a dime attending TF the rest of the season.

I hope everyone cancels their streaming.

Powerball is coincidentally up to $420M. I wonder if Falvey and the Pohlads invested $5 in their salary dump on any lottery tickets?

Actually they got a bunch of those today. 🙂

I think that Rocco...Falvey...Jim  and Joe Pohlad should be required to read these Twins Daily postings...I also encourage any fans who have purchased tickets for the remaining games to boo them if they become visible at Target Field...some of these.moves okay...but to dump 5 relievers including the top 3 prove that they don't care about the fans

Was just reading that C4 has told the Astro’s press that he has wanted to play 3B for a couple of years but that the Twins didn't have anyone and didn’t bring in anyone to play SS so he was stuck there.
slap in the face to Lewis and Lee and the whole FO. Might also be why we have drafted 37 SS’s in the last 3 years….. take it for what it’s worth…..

Funny how everybody on TD wanted a complete tear-down and re-build, and now complains that it happened.. What happened today was a total tear-down, Twins fans are not used to this, but they are doing what you, as fans, are asking for, and hoping to be competitive in a couple years. With any luck it will not be a Pirates, Rockies or Athletics rebuild...

You can want a tear down, and not be happy with the details of how it was executed. Both can be true. Also, most here did not want a tear down....

That's cold.

My biggest concern, which has been the same for awhile now, is if we haven't figured out why we can't seem to develop an above average ML hitter, is it wise to trade for young hitters who may get botched by our player development program? If we don't fix that or aren't willing to bring in quality FA bats, we'll never be a true championship contender. Like is it bad luck or is there some flaw in our hitter development process? What are the odds that all these highly-regarded hitting prospects have bombed in the last 10-ish years?

Not only hitter development but a seemingly total disregard for baseball fundamentals!

Rocco needs to go as do the entire coaching staff.

I respectfully disagree, but I am not willing to do the research to prove my statement, however I feel that I have read several threads on this exact statement...

The feelings about today are about the returns in trade as much as the players going out the door.

Stewart given away for nothing

Varland moved while still pre-arb

Jax and Duran (especially Jax) dealt for underwhelming returns given the leverage the Twins had in the reliever market

Tagging France to the Varland trade, reducing the return in the process, all for a pittance of cash savings

The acquisition of another 37 LH hitting outfielders that can't hit

A tear down was justified.  It could have easily happened without any of the above happening.

Why in the world did they extend the manager if these were the moves that were going to be made? Why didn’t they just wait? Or is he just coming back for another lame duck season? Why would you want anyone who touched this team you just tore apart to be around a basically new roster?

Because we got too many guys that will never play for or meaningfully contribute to the twins in return. I think the one dude is like 26 years old playing in A ball with an ERA over 6. Yes I understand trading Correa wasn’t about a player return but Jeeze. We got rid of talented players like people get rid of stuff they don’t want to pack when moving.

This is a perfectly fine Major League Baseball team
OF: Buxton, Wallner, Larnach, Walker Jenkins, Emmanuel Rodriguez
INF: Royce Lewis, Brooks Lee, Keaschall, Clemens, Culpepper
SP: Joe Ryan, Pablo, Zebby, Woods Richardson, Bailey Ober, David Festa, Mick Abel, Taj Bradley

Build your bullpen from the guys that don't figure it out. Signing Correa messed so many things up and derailed Royce Lewis. Move to CF and torn ACL.

The Twins have a 57-73 record over the last 130 games with a 13 game winning streak. 91 loss pace. This has been a bad team for a while.

ERod is never healthy and Jenkins isn't coming up to start next year. They also traded for two veteran OF, implying they don't agree those two are close to ready.... You can't just build a bullpen with one guy in it right now, or other teams wouldn't year for RPs all the time.

Yes, you can squint and see a future..... But it's very high risk.

I'd argue it wasn't a "complete tear-down and re-build" at all. They didn't trade their most valuable piece. Well, their 3 most valuable pieces, but 2 are hurt. If they trade their 3 top starters this offseason, THAT will be a complete tear-down. And bringing back 28 year old James Outman is not a re-build move, it's a re-tool move.

And it most certainly wasn't "everybody on TD." I don't know if it was most or not, but it certainly wasn't "everybody." I didn't want a complete tear-down. I do now, though. I want them to trade Ryan, Jeffers, Lopez, Ober, and Larnach at a minimum this offseason. No reason to keep those guys now. If today changed Buxton's mind about being a 1-jersey player, trade him, too.

But today wasn't a "complete tear-down and re-build." It was a half tear-down and combo re-build/re-tool. And that's why I hated it. They didn't pick a lane. They tried to have their cake and eat it, too. And it's why they'll continue to struggle. If they'd just have done a complete tear-down and re-build I would've been just as shocked as I was today, but wouldn't have hated it. But at least they would've picked a lane. Getting a 28-year-old OFer, 25-year-old OFer, 16-year-old, 18-year-old, and everything in between is trying to win everything and it's why they won't win anything.

Falvey always says they don't care about anything but getting value. They don't care if it's present day or future, they just want to get value. Well, at least he's honest because they sure embraced that this week. But just following their value chart and having no apparent plan for when they're making a true effort to compete just makes it all a muddied mess.

I'll leave the door open for the chance that they turn around and make follow-up moves during the offseason that consolidate things more, but I'm not holding my breath. If they do I will apologize for my rants today and say I was wrong and they had more of a plan than I gave them credit for. But as of right now the only semblance of a plan I see is them half-way trying to compete now and half-way trying to compete around 2029. And that's no plan at all.

Only Jax and Varland surprised me. The return on Duran has generally been designated as good by MLB people in the know. The rest will be determined by performance and if the players are given a chance, we all know Baldelli's proclivity to not play new players, or younger players, or players he has a grudge against for whatever reason. TK and Gardy had their favorites, but generally let the players performance decide who played, Baldelli seems to stick his pre-determined bias's.

That's funny, because his bat doesn't play at 3B.

@chpettit19 I agree with your post. They should have just retooled or burnt it all down. Or been light sellers and got maybe better next year but probably not.
The best thing they did was delete C4’s contract.
The worst thing they did was delete young cheap pitching.
They clearly don’t value relievers at all.
