Weak hitting shortstops (Correa’s WRC+ of 85 is 40th in the league) even with stellar defense who are paid $35 million dollars do not have much trade value. If the Twins are lucky there will be a rich market team in need of a SS and is willing to take on his contract. Most likely the Twins would need to kick in $$ for a trade. Correa also has a no trade clause in his contract.

I don't know what to expect and you're right that there are a lot of obstacles....but I absolutely float that possibility out there.

We should be talking about the poor move of trading Alcala for nothing. Yes he's struggled but who hasn't besides Duran, France, Buxton, Larnach and Castro this season. It's time to clean house and rebuild around some pitching depth.

He was going to be DFAd. Better that they got something for him.

The Twins will be 10 games under .500 by the trade deadline, let's be real.

Trade France, Bader and Columbe obviously.

Also Duran, Stewart, Castro, Paddock and Topa and Vazquez if anyone will take them.

Should probably be talking about selling instead. This team isn't a piece or two from being a contender. But they do have a lot of pieces that could be moved:

Duran

Coulombe

Bader

Paddack

Topa

Larnach

Stewart

France

Castro

Vazquez

I'm way more intrigued by doing a small reset, largely with the bullpen, building up the system a little bit, and trying again next season (with a new owner?!).

In reality, they'll likely trade for some Lane Thomas type of OF, call it a day, and then act surprised that 82 wins wasn't enough to make the playoffs.

It makes me sad to concur.  Just watch the pohlads have a fire sale after the ASB. 😕

The Brewers had a say in this trade as well. One possible explanation is to send a message to other potential malcontents who might demand a trade in the future. Be careful what you demand.

So he was sentenced to the South Side? 😂🤣😅

So that closes the book on the Ryan Pressly trade, for which we got.... a whole lotta nuthin.

You're betting on 13-25 between now and July 31. I'll take the over. They play 9 games against the Rockies, Marlins and Pirates in July.

While I would like to see the Twins be buyers (yes, they're NINE games out of 1st place in the division but well in the thick of it for a Wild Card) this roster is still just not well put together.

We're on the verge of an epic problem at the catching position.  Jeffers is having a bad year hitting and his defense will never even be adequate.  Vasquez should be moved to someone looking for a catcher but who the heck takes his place?  Camargo??

I think the Twins should be sellers.  It's time for an eye on 2026 when there should be new ownership.  I know many on TD who aren't confident Falvey can make the right deals as a seller, but he has to realize he's auditioning to remain the GM once a sale of the team is complete.

In any deal, I'd be looking to bring in a catcher of the future.  If the Dodgers want a closer and utility man, I'd move Duran, Castro and Ryan Jeffers to the Dodgers for Dalton Rushing.  Jax can take over as the closer for the rest of the year and beyond.  The Dodgers are in their perpetual WIN NOW mode.  Their bullpen is constantly battling injuries.  Duran would be a stabilizing force.

If I traded with the White Sox, I'd try to pry one of their TWO young catchers away...Quero or Teel.

Larnach would also be a bat I'd be willing to move.  We've got young OF ready to make a move if they could ever stay healthy.  I'd be looking to include some expiring BP arms.  I'd look to send France off and get Miranda one more chance.  I'd move Julien for a young minor leager with promise.

It's possible to sell and still see the team play well enough to sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card.  But my primary focus would be on a re-set of the roster for 2026.  New ownership could possibly bring a little more cash to plug a hole here and there.

Probably wont be a big selloff. Several guys on expiring contracts so next year will look much different. Right now we are an organization of underachieving and injury. No one wants to buy in on that.

I was the most optimistic cat in the kingdom until Lopez went down and the Twins refusal to admit that SWR doesn't throw enough strikes to warrant the opportunities he's being given. Certainly the SS needs to take charge, the manager needs to be told what a sac bunt is and someone should tell Vasquez that Duran can run his heater up to 102. Use it occasionally. But right now, sadly, they appear to be waiting for the light to change so they can take a left turn off a cliff. Starting to remind me of last September. A brewing mess and helpless to do anything about it.

This Twins team needs to be sellers as well it’s time to break this whole thing down and get some young talent… sell on a healthy Buxton and sell on Joe Ryan when his stock is at its highest

Sell on Buxton? No-trade clause. It's been all over the news.

I was in the buying camp but that was when we had a full rotation.

I think selling on Vazquez, Paddock, Castro, and France makes sense.  Then see what Correa can fetch you too.

Correa has a full no-trade.

Basically against our peers then... 😅

Sure, but you never know what might appeal to him.

However, the Devers trade today has turned me into a full steam buyer I think!  (And also much more reluctant to shop Correa)

I doubt any team other than the Sox is giving away a Devers for that tiny haul.

do we want Falvey to make these trades?

I’m starting to think Falvey’s operating under the “Cricket Wireless GM Plan”—limited minutes, no data, and every trade call drops after 30 seconds.

Either that or the Pohlad family slapped a child lock on the trade phone after the Mahle deal.
“Sorry, Derek, you’ve used up your annual ‘let’s trade three prospects for a pitcher with elbow tightness’ quota.”

Totally agree—name one legit championship team in the last 20 years that didn’t have a shortstop who could either hit, lead, or at least change a game defensively. You can’t. It’s a cornerstone position.

The Twins getting Carlos Correa looked like a splash… but ended up a belly flop.

His contract is a giant anchor:

  • 6 years, $200 million (signed in Jan 2023)

  • Has opt-outs removed, full no-trade clause, and he's already showing durability issues

  • Still owed $125M+ through 2028

  • And the bat? OPS under .700, trending the wrong way

At this point, C4 isn’t even close to “clutch” or “core.”
More like: C4= Costly. Cold. Clogged. Correa.

Honestly, it will be beyond lucky if a team does take that contract.
