The Castro at-bat in the eighth was epic. It certainly changed the game.

I do want to comment on Willi. He has become a regular player this year, obviously, despite not really having a defensive home. Honestly, I think he was better overall last season. His defense was better (didn't play as much second or shortstop) and he made a huge difference on the bases, last year with great base running decisions and 30+ SBs.

Willi has leveled off as a hitter this year, with the BA currently around .260 and his overall hitting is up because of great improvement as a right handed hitter. Castro has certainly been very valuable this year and his defensive flexibility is pretty close to historic.

Prolly gonna get Hennepin County taxpayers to spring for it.

Might actually be one of the expenditures worth the money.

His clutch AB’s are a legendary.

I sure messed up the punchline on this one. In my defense maybe baseball and Greek literature don't make a good comic combo. But as they say, if you have to explain your joke.....

He looks the part of “The Bearded Nightmare”…..a nickname that’s gotta stick, from Trevor Plouffe.

I like the nickname The Obermeister. Obermeister meaning a master craftsman or head of a guild in German.

Ober had a good game against a poor team. I love Martin's hustle, if that doesn't fire up a team I don't what will. Martin, Lee & Jeffers had a good nite at the plate. Jeffers's swing looked nice. Good ABs forced Crochet out early. Any win is a good win let's extend CWS losing streak to a nice round 20. Nice game for SWR to get back on track & revenge over CWS for being a pain at the deadline (I'm not really too disappointed over it) After that I wish them well.

No, Aristophanes wrote extensively about baseball. Unfortunately, it was almost entirely lost when the Library of Alexandria burned.

I love winning. I especially love beating the ChiSox, no matter how crap they are this season. And, yeah, I remember how a couple of seasons ago how all the prognosticators had them as the team on the rise who were going to control the division for years to come. Turns out, 2021 was an utter fluke. They've had an awful front office, been a mess with their managers, and their owner is pretty dreadful. What a shame, lol.

Nice to see the bottom half of the lineup carry the club. Got to feel good about the team's approach at the plate drawing 7 walks; as much as I look at WHIP for pitchers, I keep an eye on where the team's combined walks & hits landed for a game. Generating 15 baserunners like this should get you the runs you need.

Go for the sweep!

What happened to them? Seems like in 2020, they were supposed to be overtake the Twins and control the division for the next 4-5 years. To go from that to arguably one of the worst teams of all time, it's bizarre.

The Tim Anderson debacle and other clubhouse issues destroyed them quickly.  They also have a highly rated SS prospect having a below average year in AAA…. He was supposedly better than Brooks Lee.
The Twins are doing many things right thru out the organization! The Sox…. Not so much.

edit. Colson Montgomery has stuck out 16 times in his last 50 PA with a .630 ops in Charlotte.

Team OPS of .617...and that includes a handful of guys they traded. Jeff Reboulet's career OPS was .649. Glenn Borgmann .630. It's like facing a lineup of Ben Rortvedts (.615).

Wow. As someone who remembers all three players you mentioned, that is ugly.

I remember that... it was rough on the people of Alexandria.

They had to drive all the way to Sauk Centre to check out a book and all they had was Sinclair Lewis and no books explaining why they use the British spelling of "Centre".

Ryan just has to be more consistent.  Carry 5-8 consecutive games into the 7th inning and we can talk about 3 Aces.
Also, as SWR develops, he has that kind of potential.

I mean, that's great insight and your opinion. It might be true about Joe Ryan needing to pitch deeper into games. All that being said, based on the 2024 performance of all three, how are you ranking Ober and Lopez above Ryan so far for 2024 performance?

Early season, I would rank them Ryan, Lopez, Ober.   A little later it would be Ryan, Ober, Lopez. As of now Ober,Lopez,Ryan.  Not because Ryan has pitched worse but because Ober and Lopez have stepped up their games.  It would not surprise me to see Ryan string together great starts in Aug and Sept.  If that happens,  their is definitely a case to be made for Ryan being the most consistent SP thru out the 30+ starts that each of them will have made.  If Ryan is solid into October, I would have a hard time not saying that he had the best 2024 season based on Lopez having multiple stinkers and Ober with his KC low lights.

I think that pretty much sums it up. I almost think they should have brought back Ozzie Guillen to manage after the LaRussa debacle. Ozzie would bring such a large effect on that clubhouse I think he could have righted that ship, maybe not. It did seem they were puting together a good core of players. Their loss is our gain.

C4 will be back soon and Farmer should be sent to the 60day Il.

Farmer is going on a rehab next week according to Atteberry and Gladden.

Most of what Roger Angell wrote was plagiarized from charred scrolls.
