Yankees (Rodon) vs Twins (Paddack): 5/14/24, 6:40pm

The Yankees are a very good team but they no longer feel intimidating. This will be an interesting series, particularly with the lefty going for New York in game one.

Agreed, the intimidation factor and stigma of the damn Yankees can be done with. The Twins can beat any MLB team on any given day, let today be that day! I don't think this group of players has any stigma about the Yankees in 2024. Go Twins!!

Not a problem right now. It was kinda murky... yesterday? the day before? but seems fine today.

With Rodon on the hill... the lineup is pretty much set with only the order to be ordered. 

The only question in my mind is will Kepler or Vazquez start. Kepler has been hot and Vazquez caught yesterday so Rocco might drop Kepler in against the lefty tonight with Jeffers behind the dish.  

Rocco also might be thinking about how to manage Jeffers catching load and keep his bat in the lineup all three games against the Bombers with two right handed starters to follow. Would he catch Jeffers back to back Wednesday night followed by a Thursday day game? If he would... Vazquez is playing tonight.     

Unless there are some health issues that I don't know about

I'm going to guess Kepler is in the lineup tonight.

The Yankees have two left handers in the pen. One threw 21 pitches yesterday and neither of them are high leverage guys so I think that Rocco will have Julien and Kirilloff pinch hit as soon as Rodon is removed from the game.

I read somewhere the Twins were fairly confident Buck could be activated for this game. Hopefully he can displace Margot in both those lineup variations

Rolling out Margot in 5 hole batting .171, Farmer in 7 hole batting .147 and Vazquez in 8 hole at .182 isn't quite the murderers row we are going with vs Yankees in game of series.  Ouch, pretty putrid.  The pinch hitting Lefties will start getting ready in the 4th in I guess

I wouldn’t catch Jeffers in that night game/day game lead up into the Cleveland series. I want him catching Friday/Sunday in that series and at DH on Saturday.

I also would have started Pablo today on his regular rest and given Paddack a few extra days so that he starts the Cleveland series and Pablo finishes it with Ober in between. Net result is SWR starts against the Yankees instead of Paddock and Lopez starts in the Cleveland series instead of SWR. Paddack gets a few extra days off to help limit his innings and most others of regular rest.

Yankees still have the ability to rake against bad pitching. They get on base and then they make you pay. Twins need Paddack to give them some innings tonight. This isn't the series where the bullpen is going to get right.

If Buxton is activated... Martin would be sent down I assume. My guess would then be... Buxton in CF and Castro in LF.

These seem like two completely different things. I approve of the catching split hundred percent. Anything that keeps that bat of Jeffers fresh is money.
