January's discussion of Seattle's need for Jorge Polanco in light of a Mariner roster that already included Josh Rojas and Luis Urias:

https://twinsdaily.com/forums/topic/65825-mariners-still-looking-for-additional-infielder/page/2/#comment-1355123

Polanco may represent an upgrade in the end but to date Polanco has posted an OPS+ of 90, Rojas an OPS+ of 200 and Urias an OPS+ 114.

Polanco has posted an fWAR of 0.1 in 34 games, Rojas an fWAR of 1.3 in 26 games and Urias an fWAR of 0.3 in 20 games.

We should witness a great four-game series between two clubs poised for the postseason.

It's going to be a tough series. I wish SEA & Polanco well but hope for us to take the series. It'll be a very interesting one. Wish I could watch them.

interesting that Margot is starting in center for the first time this year. Very surprising, especially after his two misplays in LF yesterday. Really wish he would give Martin a chance to play on a regular basis while Buxton is out.

Wondering if the thought process is he needs more PT to get into a rhythm but part of the job is being ready when called upon and he's been anything but that so far this season.

If that’s the case, I’m not sure I like Rocco’s process of thoughts!

Yesterday was a total system failure; batting, pitching and defense.  The loss was a team loss, no one person is to blame.  Just as the winning streak was team effort, someone different delivering every game.

Today, we hopefully start a new winning streak as Castillo has great numbers against right handers, but not so great against left hand batter, giving up an average of .333. WHIP of 1.67 and 2.6 HR per 9.  Hope we have a good game at the plate.

Margot's in the starting lineup. Mind-boggling.

I'd like to think that this is Rocco giving him his last chance to prove he has anything left with a run of starts before Buxton comes back and he's DFA'd. But yea, probably wishful thinking

This is my hope. They have to see if he's got anything left. I just read Gleeman's article and he said Margot's sprint speed went from the 75th percentile last season to the 44th this year. Sheesh I thought he was slowed by injury last year. Did the guy just drop off a cliff at 29?

I was joking yesterday when I said Margot would start today.

I guess there's potential he's nursing/hiding an injury, in which case an IL stint could delay the DFA'ing for awhile

American League OPS rankings have Minnesota at 5 and Seattle at 12. .719 vs .668. Gotta offset Seattle's rotation. Runs per game Twins 4.64 vs Seattle 3.65. Get it!

Age and injuries might be catching up to Polanco - I'd love for him to stink the next 4 games but go onto have a really good season.

Some here think Spring Training is a farce, but Polanco hit .419 in ST, it makes zero sense for him to come out of ST and hit like the Twins did for one half of April.

Baldelli reads this site and is doing it just to annoy some here.

Byron would have had that.

Austin would have had that.

Willi would have had that.

Just getting these out of the way so I won't have to bother typing them out during the game. "See above" will suffice. Saves a few electrons.

Kirilloff hasn’t been hitting, so Rocco moves him to #3 in the order. Julien hasn’t been hitting, so he moves to lead off and Margot hasn’t been doing much of anything well, so he starts in center field. And some of you say Rocco doesn’t play hunches.

Rocco stubbornly refuses to play MY hunches. That's the problem.

Three strikeouts in the first inning.  The third strike coming three different ways.  SWR is intriguing to say the least.  Wonder why the Blue Jays gave up on him so easily?

I stayed overnight in Seattle once. Accidentally checked into a dive. Door jamb was broken, faucet wouldn't shut off, sheets looked like the entire neighborhood slept there, guys kept tapping at the door asking for Delilah... didn't get any sleep.

I mentioned it to Bill Gates over breakfast... next thing you know they made a movie out of it. Changed the plot a little bit though so I couldn't claim any of the royalties.

Any truth to the rumors Bill Gates has taken the state of Washington private?
