Kuechel to IL with "calf injury." Alcala activated. Celestino DFA'd to make 40 man room.

I wonder what the baby cow did to him?

Toronto is not starting Gausman against Tampa. I suspect they don't see much advantage to finishing with a #5 seed and facing Tampa Bay for three more games after finishing the season against them.

Jeffers took a foul ball in the upper leg. I wish they could have a third catcher for today.

The Twins will lead MLB in strikeouts, both by their hitters and by their pitchers. They are 24 ahead of Toronto for pitcher strikeouts. Quite a turnaround for a staff that had for years been "pitch to contact".

It would be sweet if Kepler could finish the season with a Batting Average .260 or higher.

Small ball so far today; I wonder if this is Luplow's last chance to show if he stays during post season.

Rays up 4-0 on Blue Jays. I think it's going to be the Blue Jays vs. the Twins in Round 1.

That gets a big "It depends".

8-0 Rays.

4-0 Houston.

Toronto in trouble on the mound.  They will be throwing a lot of bullpen arms after maxing out the last couple games.

Twins catching some early breaks?

I'm betting on lots of position players pitching today. They save the pitching staff and get their preferred matchup.

Bring on the Blue Jays

Only downsid eis they are the one opponent that set up their rotation

But they are easily the most beatable

Tim Wakefield lost his battle with brain cancer. Just 57. He did a lot of community work. I would've never guessed he was #3 all time in wins for the Red Sox. Behind only Clemens and Cy Young. RIP Mr Wakefield

Very sad to hear it. Unsung hero of Boston's epic 2004 ALCS come back, taking the innings in game 3 blow out to preserve the bullpen.

Also if i recall his contract, it was an annually renewing 1 year mutual option., so he pitched for Boston as long as they both wanted to.. Somehow very elegant.
