Anyone wonder why Gallo keeps playing?

6 for 56 goes beyond just a slump. We already knew Gallo was not a solid contact guy but the strikeouts keep mounting. Is it possible the coaches are playing him Gallo to show the front office Falvey and Lavine, hey this version of Joey Gallo is what we will see moving forward? He plays OK defense but Gallo is about as close to an automatic out as we have seen in a long time as a Twin and we have had doosey's. I mean there is still time for him to redeem himself but time will be running short soon? I mean Kirloff being hurt and the 40 man has probably led to this circumstance too. Still a tough one to figure out.

Because AK hit the IL.  Your other option is Solano everyday at 1B.  I still think it's the only reason he was signed in the first place because of the question mark with AK's wrist.

Never thought of that. But now that you mention it he does seem to have a tendency to not make contact with the ball.

Gallo...strikes out too much? The hell, you say! Can't be true!

Surely there are some stats to back that up; I don't trust the "eye test" on things that can be measured.

Gallo is getting worse as the season progresses and I think it is way past time to cut him loose. Over the last 30 days he's got an OPS of .483 and a K% of 54.5%, there is no way he should be on a major league roster at this point.

I think $11,000,000 has a lot to do with Gallo's side of it. For the Twins? A spreadsheet?

I think you are correct.

I think the Twins are looking at the wrong spreadsheet

The sad thing to me is his performance wasn't unexpected. He has one season batting over .210.

Having Correa flop is more justified to me as he has a track record of successful seasons. Gallo has one outlier.
